Hello,

 

I anticipate this question has never been asked because I'm a bit of a newbie to cars etc and people probably already know the answer.

 

At the risk of making myself look stupid....

 

But can somebody tell me what does the downward pointing arrow mean on my DSG gear lever below "drive" (see below picture) And what does it do? I'm scared to try it out without knowing 😬

 

As I say, I'm new, so apologies if that's a eye roller of a question!

Pulling the lever down swaps between normal and sport modes. Moving it to the left allows manual gear changing.

I knew about the knocking to the left allowing manual mode.

 

But didn't know about the sport being accessible from down!

...and once you done that, perversely you need to pull it back to change back to 'normal'!

If you don't know it is not a stupid question 

I work in a pretty technical job where I train people on unique equipment. The rule is theres no stupid questions, and if you have to ask you're probably not on your own! It isn't self explanatory to be fair!
