SE-L wheel finish

Featured Replies

sorry, i know im asking a lot of questions lately

the car i have reserved has the normal SE-L wheels, not the ones on the Edition, are they a normal alloy wheel finish, or are they diamond cut etc in any way

im hoping they are just a normal wheel finish as they are less likely to corrode

They are a 'polished' finish, similar to diamond cut but just silver.

Thanks, do they require a milder wheel cleaner than a normal wheel

i would say they are definitely shiney-er than normal silver alloys.

i use bilt hamber or Turtle wax redline on the wheels.

Anything PH neutral is good. Take a look at P&S Brake Buster as it's not a full on iron remover (i.e. very strong) but it works great and has a corrosion inhibitor. It's also very good value if you get the gallon container - I dilute 1:3 and works better than any other stuff in my experience, and it doesn't smell bad unlike some other wheel cleaners.

Give it a go mate, I've gone through at least 5 different wheel cleaners and I've found the one...

how strong is the bilt hamber wheel cleaner, i know their stuff is usually pretty safe on most things, their shampoo is very good and most of their line has some kind of anti corrosion angle to it

Its the best I have used and goes a long way for the money, don't need to use a lot. As said previously though it is stinking

Smells like eggs. It is completly safe. I used it all the time on Leon Cupras alloys and they were diamond cut which are more fragile than the normal alloys finish

excellent, thats what im after, something that wont ruin the wheels

I use Valet Pro Bilberry wheel cleaner on mine.   I have coated the wheels in 3 coats of Poorboys Wheel sealant, and will keep topping that up to protect them.    People often wax their cars to protect them but forget about the wheels.     I find between the Poorboys wheel sealant and bilberry wheel cleaner they are quite easy to keep clean.

I have some Bilberry, thought it might have been too agressive ?

I only use Bilberry at a 1:10 dilution ratio, as I know it is a bit Caustic, especially if used strong, and I avoid leaving it to dwell too long before rinsing.    I also don't use it everytime I clean the wheels as with the Poorboys wheel sealant on them they usually come clean with just a pressure wash and soapy water, which is what I do first and only reach for the wheel cleaner if they are not coming clean.

In my 2 years of ownership I have never felt the need to use an acidic/ alkali wheel cleaner.

I clean my Sirius alloys with the same Mcguires shampoo as the bodywork, and an EZ detail small wheel brush.
Would attach photo to show they’re as good as they were when new, but it’s chucking it down :)

Results from using Brake Buster through the foam blaster and just letting sit then pressure spray off...
