Electric Mirror Glitch?

Featured Replies

This is a simple issue but one that I just can't get to the bottom of...

My Mrs Seat Leon recently started doing this thing where when you move the left mirror it will only move the left mirror, but when you set the electric dial to the right mirror it will move them both. Just thought that it had some sort of glitch.

My Skoda Octavia does the exact same thing now. I don't understand whether this is supposed to be something for a reason or whether it is just a coincidence that the two cars we own now both do it. I know both Skoda and Seat use similar electric components.

It’s not a glitch but actually a useful feature.
Both cars will always have been able to work this way.

Isn't there a setting to synchronise the mirrors.?

What does it do though? As when I get the right mirror in place it puts my left mirror completely out :D

I can't recollect which one does what but basically adjust one side to how you want it to be and then go to the other one to get that correct too (or vice versa just so the second side only adjusts that side).

Then if you put it to whichever side adjusts both mirrors you will find how much easier it is to move both mirrors when reversing if you need to check at ground level.

It's easier to do than my garbled explanation makes out though. ;)

To further add things to the mix, if you have mirrors that drop when reversing then there's a separate way to set that up - one which I have disabled and remember even less about!

So quite possibly there may be features on mine and my wife's cars with the mirrors that we aren't even aware of?

This is becoming sadly exciting on my Saturday morning B), thanks for the info.

I am "reflecting" on this... Excuse the mirror pun...

Mirror "synchronous adjustment" can disabled or enabled in the Mirror settings in the Car Setup menu. This will stop both mirrors moving together when you move the right hand one.  Then you can adjust each one separately by moving the switch to L or R.

I expect the Seat Leon would have similar menus depending on the year model. This can be permenantly disabled  using VCDS diagnostic software tool. I've not done it with my own VCDS but I expect it would remove the option from the Infotainment menus.

Truly a case where a picture speaks a thousand words.
