Im not 100% sure but as you've identified it's since you've fitted the Amundsen radio, I believe it can be a common issue to result in the battery draining.

Plenty of results come up, just search Amundsen battery drain. I think the solution is to upgrade the CAN gateway, dont know how or what is involved as in does it need to be coded afterwards?

Take a look here:

Hope that helps or at least, point you in right direction.

biggar, in my opinion the way that you write your posts does not make it easy for people to understand what you have done. As I read it you took the Dance radio out of your Fabia and installed an Admundson. You then had a battery drain problem which you traced back to the new radio. As trickstargee said this is a known problem when fitting some radios to older cars and it requires a more modern CAN gateway fitting and coding to cure the problem. You then removed the Admundson radio and refitted the Dance.

If you did not do any coding with VCDS whilst the Admundson was fitted then I can think of no reason why the Dance radio would not work when refitted the same as it did before it was removed. I assume that you disconnected the battery every time you removed and fitted a radio to prevent blowing a fuse or shorting out one of the electronic modules? I would suggest that you clear all of the fault codes and then see which ones return.

On the autoscan that you posted the VCDS version is 11.11.6. The current version is 20.12 and I would suggest that you upgrade to the correct version as it includes more functionality. However if you have a pirated version of VCDS, such as can be bought from China, then you will not be able to upgrade it. Pirated versions of VCDS have been known to not work correctly and can cause problems with the coding. It is also Briskoda policy that discussions regarding pirated versions of VCDS are not allowed on the forums.

Some people (myself being one) have difficulty processing written text and understanding what the person writing it was trying to say, it's just the way their brain is wired. When you write a big long run-on sentence with no grammar or punctuation, you're making it much, much harder for people to read it and understand what you're trying to say. My immediate reaction to what you posted above was to switch off and walk away because of the effort needed to try and figure out what you said.

You've been given good advice on this thread by other posters. Start with that and report back with what you find.

Hi liger1956 I didn't disconnect the battery whilst swapping radios over just had the ignition turn off and I bought vcds off independent vw dealer in the north east. And I have cleared all the codes after fitting the dance and what you see is what has returned

Even when the ignition is turned off there is usually a permanent live to the radio so that it can retain it's settings. It is always good practice to disconnect the battery when working on electrical, particularly electronic, components.

Can you update your copy of VCDS to the latest version, which is downloadable for free from the Ros-Tech site https://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/download/ and do another auto scan as the latest version of the software may give us more information.

Are you sure that you did not change anything with VCDS when you fitted the Admundson as one of the faults in 09: Cent. Electronics is

"01300 - Control Module for Navigation with CD-Rom (J401) 49-00 - No Communications"

which would appear to indicate that someone has changed the radio module to include a sat-nav and the Dance does not have sat-nav.

I agree, it seems it's looking for something thats not there and "should" never have been till now..............................

unless offcourse the previous owner had one in, had it coded but never changed it back when they removed the nav unit to sell seperately most likely.

I do not think that would be the case as biggaz said that the Dance was working as were the rear parking sensors prior to fitting the Admundson although I could be wrong. What confuses me is that the Dance was working correctly before the Admundson was fitted but not when it was reinstalled even though no coding was altered.

That would indicate to me that you do not have a genuine version of VCDS and that the software supplied with it is a pirated version. How much did you pay for it?

Bought it about 5-6 years ago, and I think it was somewhere between 150-200 pounds if memory is correct and I did buy it from and vw dealer plus it has a product serial number

In which case, reinstall the latest 20.12 version and contact ross-tech for support (https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php).

Assuming it's a genuine interface, I'm sure they'll help you to get it up and running :)

Feel free to post a picture of it as that may also help clear this up.

Hi Biggaz... I see you mentioned reverting back to the Dance stereo, did you recode that ok? Does it actually work now? Did you actually try to disconnect the battery for a while, then re-connect and turn everything back on again? It does clearly seem you have messed the codes up or something by swapping the audio but I hope its a glitch, not a b1tch, to sort. Have you tried to remove the Dance again, to be sure to connect everything properly, too? You might have missed something.
