  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

I’m laughing at the last sentence, but the first one makes me sad…

Anyway, my dealer mentioned on Monday that things have started to move, they receive a few Octys each week (mine is still parked somewhere, waiting for something…).

Things have to move.  Last year's model need to get first registered in various countries.  Money needs to come in even if VW group are selling them to VW finance.   There are far too many cars sitting with some old fuel in, AdBlue, oil, brake fluid, tyres.   They should be discounting these cars built last year.

They should be doing a lot of things, but in reality it’s a different story.

Reality is that the cars arrive into various countries or to dealerships in a random way which is not explained by people making guesses or telling what a car salesperson told them.

What is important to the VW Group is is controlling the Average C02 emissions for the EU or UK first registrations so that they are not fined for failing to meet their requirements.

Ordered my vRS on 11th July 2021 in Randalstown, no VIN, no updates, called to dealer 2 weeks ago, the order just has Error next to it

Using the spreadsheet its good to see some people getting their cars after a very long wait. A uk skoda dealer advertising on facebook gave me the following in response to a question about Octavia delivery times.

"our Octavia iVs have a delivery time of approximately 39 weeks for the Estate, and 52 weeks for the Hatch, depending on engine, options and other factors"

I was 16 weeks for an estate and I'm now up near 50 weeks. Might get a cake for the year anniversary. 😅

Apparently we have a lucky guy/girl from Poland on the list. Ordered 28/08/2021, delivered 20/06/2022. Congrats Komono!

With a car sales person / executive / dealer principal best that you just ask them where they get their stories.

Is it from the factory from a reliable source or a document released to dealerships or are they just going on Chinese whispers and from a man who knows a man or woman.

There is a load of guff being told daily and weekly and monthly by car sales people to customers and potential customers.

Skoda / VW can do press releases if they want when they want to tell people rather than allowing the rumour mill.

Got information from dealer that Skoda will try to finish unfinished cars durin july/august. Not sure how much of them. But i guess things are moving soon.

They need to as the MY23 cars will be starting to get turned out.

The MY22 models need flogged & first registered.

The initial info was until the end of September. August will be quite hard imho due summer factory closures. Would be nice though 😊

Factory close downs and everything shut and no production is different from 'new lines and machinery installed', training being done, maintenance etc,

maybe even employees finishing or fitting parts to bunkered vehicles.

I have no idea what they will or will not be doing.  Maybe they do switch off the power and lock the gates.

Also factory is on holidays at weeks 30+31.

We will see this year if VW are Simply Clever.

The Czech Republic, Slovakia & Hungary are getting cheaper energy than the rest of the EU from Russia and it would be silly to not take advantage.

VW Group already likes the cheaper labour there.

What makes you think that they cannot pruduce my23 cars from the line at the same time while finishing my22 cars from parking lot?

Nothing makes me think they can not finish MY22 cars while producing MY23 cars on the line.

They are becoming Old new stock sitting about as they are.  But them that is happening with other brands / models.

What i think is they need to get their act together and those MY22 cars finished and punted out be them left or right hand drive before the new MY 23 cars are getting to customers.

They have turned out older cars in the past while newer / next generation or more modern were also getting registered.

Markets get confused when older  cars are first registered and appear newer than the newest cars.

Congrats to people who took deliveries! And please remember to update the sheet once you had yours handed over - helps with the stats collection. Based on a tiny data set our average delivery time as of now stands at 53 weeks.

I'm not there yet, so I guess I can't bitch just yet :D

So then i will get my car in in 30 day's ;)

hehe i hope that your will be the case hehe

on 1 july will be one year of ordering my car :)

Well nothing will get done in those 2 weeks. And there isn’t only the Skoda factory that gets closed, suppliers have that too. So I guess what doesn’t come out in 30 days from now, will be delivered in September (hopefully).

They should hurry up with what they can produce. Recession is incoming and that means many cancellations.
