Have you checked your hose yet?

Part number is: 6Q2 612 041 AL.

I'd recomend getting it from mike at cloverdale car parts, that's where I got it from

no not yet, been trying to sort my driver locking mechanism as the sensor has gone.

will check the pipes most probably tomorrow now.

Garages are mongs, they just change whatever the reader says is wrong, they play parts bingo with your money, next it would be the throttle body, then the pedal assembly, then the ECU. I know how

@Wino I unfortunately think this is worse than your example.

Wow, worst one I've seen.  Glad you got to that before it completely fell off.

Do you know who the previous owner is/was?  If so you should thank them very sarcastically for that repair...

Me too! It's mainly because of your help which is greatly appreciated. I do not know who they were, but apparently they didn't mind too much about brake performance...

I hope you don’t mind jumping on ya thread and asking I ve got to change my servo vacuum pipe, I’ve unclipped it but how do you remove it? I’ve looked all over the web and can’t find nothing :(

Take a Stanley knife to the silvery heatshield if you can't be bothered to undo it via the clips that just unscrew (mid-bottom of photo). Then tuck the new one behind the flap and gaffer-tape it shut.

Can't see enough of the next bit along to help much, but tyrapping it to the other pipe that seems to go through something would be an easy solution.

Show us some more photos, give us a chance.

Thank you , I’ll look and take some more tomorrow and have a proper look , I should of took more when I was looking at it , with the picture I put up , if u follow the unclipped pipe to near the top of the photo and across abit there’s a looks like a black trucking . Pipes go’s through there tight with a few other pipes and comes out the other side into the servo ,

So there's probably a way to open that trunking. Get in there and start pulling and poking. :)

Just took it for a long drive, after about 45 minutes the rough idle returned.

Maybe I have another vacuum leak?

Or maybe it's another issue entirely.

You need to reset the dynamic map in the ECU, disconnect the battery for a few minutes, the fuel trim will be all over the place from all those leaks.

When I do this I'll need to find and enter a radio code right? Is there anything else that I'll need to do afterwards?

If the radio is factory original fitment it won't need any code putting in subsequent to a battery disconnection.

My understanding of the wiring to your engine ECU is that there aren't any permanent 12V connections, so disconnecting the battery is no different to switching off the ignition though. By all means try it, but I wouldn't expect any sort of reset to occur.

I reckon there's another problem somewhere.

ok guys,

just went to check the pipe and guess what? it has a spit on one end, seems very popular place for splits.

havent ordered the pipe but thought i would try insulated tape first. same as the op, the idle gets rough when the engine is warm/hot.

taking the car for a drive tomorrow so will find out.

Gaffer tape is a better choice for a temporary repair/test, as the fibres stop it stretching so easily, that's why I suggested it for the OP's experiment.

oh right, i only had them electrical/ insulated tape to hand.

only other tape i had was gorilla tape, would that had been better?

  • Sponsor

Yeah, that looks pretty much the same as gaffer tape.

ok il give it a test tomorrow, if that seem to have worked then il rip the insulated tape off and use the gorilla tape.

thank you wino :)

started my car up few days ago in morning when it was warm in cornwall, the idle kept going up and down straight away, maybe because the engine was already warm.

started it up after taping the pipe and it didnt idle rough so hopefully it was just that pipe.

Please note that I'm not suggesting gaffer tape as a permanent fix. An accident investigator might have a field day with that.
