Tried to set up the Skoda Connect this weekend. Car is asking for an 'S' PIN, done a search but none the wiser. Also tried updating the app on my phone from the old Karoq. It's updated the car and picture but when authorising it's telling me that it found a problem!

Assume it's only free for the first year so for what it does is it worth it?

I have mine set up and have some interesting stuff in the app, such as confirming the car is locked; but would I pay for it? Jury is still out on that one...

Some functionality isn’t there yet, or isn’t working for me anyway. The remote lock/unlock is supposedly setup but doesn’t appear in my app. Similarly, I can plan a route in the app, but can’t send it to the car - which seems a bit pointless! Logging  into the web portal is says the send route to car isn’t available yet.

What I don’t know yet is what the significance of lost functionality if I don’t  not pay for the services. Over the air updates for example.

It’ll be interesting to know what others are thinking...

I currently have it for free (first year), but overall its as buggy as the rest of the car.

 

Currently, it is telling me that my car is parked 45 miles away. No amount of updates is fixing it......

Is anyone able to set the temperature/prewarm the car from the app? The website talks about it but I can’t find an option, it would be nice in the winter, especially if you could turn on the heated screens too and let it defrost 

This option is not available in the UK.

Says it turns on ventilation - doesn't say what temp / settings it has though (I didn't actually go to the car and check it had worked though - just checked that it says it works in the app)

As my parking place is 500m away from the appartment, it is not possible to turn on auxiliary heater by the separate controler as WiFi cannot reach the car.

So, the only way to defrost windshield in the morning is by switching auxiliary heater via app. And it works. 

Sometimes I check if I locked the car or not, unless the app starts bugging. Did not try to lock using the app...

Sometimes there is just too much tech to play with guys. I just enjoy driving the car.

@DuncanW remote ventilation works for you? I was wondering and asked about this featuer my dealer where i bought the car and i was told that this option (remote ventilation) is only available for either IV version or if you have Webasto in your car ... on mine DSG Style (no Webasto) i do not have any option whatsoever in the app...

 

if it works for you, can you give a printscreen of the app showing that option? 

Definitely works - I can’t select any temperature etc and it appears to just turn the fans on (guess to air the car before getting back to it on a hot day maybe?)

 

Amazing... Can you tell me type and spec of your car? You have webasto or is the car a hybrid version? Also what is your software version? 

 

 

No idea what Webasto is I’m afraid. It’s a standard uk petrol vrs but I’ll check the software version tomorrow.

Webasto is the auxiliary heater that some markets (colder countries) have as an option. Very rarely found in UK cars. 

found the answer i was looking for...unfortunatelly as it states on the link, remote ventilation is only avialable in Octavia IV and regular Octavias with production date 11/2020 or later... :(

So @DuncanW was your Octy produced after 11/2020? I wonder what could be the difference in hardware/software in order that this option is available or not in octavias made prior to 11/2020?? I just dont get it

I also have this option in the Skoda App. But haven't tried it yet. Car build date is 28th of November.

i find this option quite usefull comparing to other connect features like route planning, honk&blink, lock&unlock, etc...especially in our region in hot months from june-sept

Skoda connnect on my vrs has a geofence option which I like.  Can set a predefined gpcoordinate around the car and if it leaves that area you get a notification via your mobile.  Gives piece of mind that if it were to be stolen I’d find out quite quickly.

WTF? Really? Never seen that before. Can you post some pictures how does it look in the app? 

thats yet another rather useless feature at least by my opinion. Yes, you set the radius from your car and you get notified once the car leaves that area...but its not reliable as it is not the whole skoda connect app...you never know when it works or not and emails arrive with some delay...

Hmm I never had any issues with the Skoda Connect app.

Works absolutely fine for me.  I often leave for work earlier than my nighttime setting and my phone alerts in the car at the same point on the road every day.  

 

I get a notification on the phone and a separate email. 

OMG! Thanks @Paf ! I thought this "Arena Notification" is something completely different. So I have never even clicked on it. 

i dont know...i just dont see the big benefit of it...if someone steals your car, you just get a notification it is gone, you cant track it anyway, so maybe its just for tracking our wifes lol

 

regarding Skoda Connect reliability i use it quite a lot, but sometimes it just dont refresh data for days...the feature i use the most, Lock&Unlock, works fine, but couple of times when i needed it the most it just froze, so i had to go out of the residence building to unlock the car by key as i couldn't use the key from the building .... so yeah, it works fine most of the time, but there is no big benefit at least not for me... i'm dissapointed that i dont have that simple feature as remote ventilation, since i didn't spec the auxilary heater i was looking forward to at least having remote ventilation as i'd have some benefit at least from that

Why you won't be able to track the car? I'm sure the position is displayed at least in "Parking position" section? Or it isn't?
