Tidied the Fab up in prep for going away a few trips over the coming weeks. It's looking quite good for a nearly 17 year old car.           Oh, an

So, got the insurance sorted for the Fabia, so it's back on the road as of Tuesday.   In the meantime, it found itself a friend. Well chuffed with this Vectra, not sure if I'll make a projec

Thanks, Lee! :)

A year ago today I bought the car for the princely sum of £1,495... which looking back was a bargain considering the way the used car market has went. :D

Was the car located very far from where you live? :)

Just touching on 50 miles, Lee, located beside the racecourse in Hamilton. Involved going through East Kilbride and a matter of other places with more roundabouts per head than any other county in Scotland. On the way back down it was quite easy, M8 through Glasgow then M77 back through Ayr, much to my Mum's delight as she was driving and didn't want to be dragged through Glasgow. :D

However, it was the best I was getting for the budget which also had to cover insurance, tax, and maintenance until I started University that September. I had £2,500 set aside, so I spent £1,495 on the car, and then the rest on keeping it running and no more. :)

Wow, quite a trek 😁 Was worth it in the end though 👍

Definitely, my Granda gave us a lift up in the Sandero, so wasn't all bad. I got a car out of it too, and it had working air conditioning at that point! :D

Should have bought a later Classic, Lee. You'd have got it standard! :D

Sorry to hear that, but once again it's good that you're better. :)

Doesn't Sharleen Spiteri call it the Polo Mint City on the White on Blonde album? Or at least that's the place I think she's alluding to, wouldn't say the place was pretty though. :D

Haven't really listened to Amy MacDonald too much surprisingly. Definitely on the 'to listen' list, though. :)

Okay, so if you've seen the 'Annoyed' thread then you'll know that my screenwash pipe had once again disconnected. Last time it did this it had sheared off so was epoxied back into place.

Good news! The epoxy stayed put... bad news... the pipe didn't. :D

Anyway, we removed the epoxy, to be left with this...

Also, just as a tip, remove the wheel and then the arch liner before doing this job. I took the opportunity to take the loose mud off of mine as well.

Getting the liner back on had to be worst part of the job for sure.

I now have a rear washer jet again, so not all is bad. The electrics also seem better today, which is a nice touch. Battery could do with a long run or a good charge, so will wait and see what that entails (Stirling and back, perhaps?)

You can always run a long cable tie side to side across both outlets on the pump.  It doesn't need to be so tight as to break the connectors but should stop the popping off.  If it needs to be held in position itself then use another at right angles to it round the pipe connectors...   Sort of like...

Thanks. My Grampa used some other adhesive in conjunction with the jubilee clip so I'll see how it is. :)

Any electrical misbehaviour may well relate to that dodgy earth cable/connection going to the strut top.

Aye, I'm thinking that too. There's another earth which runs down to a connection beside the PAS pump as a backup in case that one doesn't work or whatever. My electric window issue has disappeared so not sure if it's doing what the Punto used to and the damp has gotten to it somewhat.

Also came across what I think to be lacquer peel on my front bumper, but also on the sill (not pictured)

I'm afraid your diagnosis is correct. 😞

I've also found rust on my sill on the same side as the lacquer peel down there. It's all beginning to bubble up a bit too.
