Upgrading non-VRS 2TDi

Featured Replies

Hello world! I enjoy cars but haven't ever done any mechanics. Got a 2011 Octavia Elegance 2TDi, remapped by celtic tuning which brought it from 130 to 200bhp. Love the car, super practical and fun to drive. Looks a bit silly with small rims and high clearance.

I have ideas for mods, but am I wasting my time on a 100k milage non-VRS model? Or can I mod it so it more closely resembles a VRS? Any recommendations would be great. Keep in mind I can't do any of this work myself due to lack of skills/space/tools.

Here's what I'd like to do:

1. Black VRS rims (18"?) + mid range tyres 2. New coilover so a bit lower and a bit stiffer (not slammed as we've lots of potholes nearby, want it to still be comfortable)

3. EGR delete if another remap required (just remove valve toggle from software during map, keep parts in)

4. Steering wheel e.g. Sparco 380 or OMP RS. Mainly for comfort - reduced vibrations. Would this actually reduce vibrations? If not, is it possible to change it to one with electric volume controls?

5. Change front/rear bumper and skirts. Any idea where from / how I could know what will fit?

Any other mods you'd recommend? E.g. upgrading brakes or clutch? Turbo for fun? Injectors? I'm outta my depth now.

Car needs to stay reliable and comfortable for driving trips / holidays across UK (Europe when we can).

I put a H&R -50mm cup kit and a Whiteline rear ARB on our VRS. Transformed the handling. Lowered it 35mm (VRS is already 15mm lower than standard). Its a wee bit harsh on rough roads but not too bad. Overall much better than standard VRS suspension.

You may also want to upgrade the brakes slightly. 312mm is standard on VRS.

Revo now gives 205bhp.

what are you classing as a 'mid range tyre'?  for the rs wheels you're looking for neptunes or zenniths.

coil overs , if your roads aren't great you might be better with something like the HR cup springs and B8 shocks this would give you what you're after but still retain some comfort.

steering wheel - why, why would you remove your drivers airbag also not sure if this accounts for removing original equipment and the fore wouldn't pass an mot without accompanying mods (roll cage etc.)  I also couldn't see why it would remove vibration, if anything i think it would increase it with how its manufactured.

but yes you can swap original wheel for a MFSW from mk2 or mk3 lots of posts on here about it.

Regarding a bigger turbo, your injectors will need upgrading to suit, along with remap, fuel pump etc., etc.,-not worth the money or hassle IMO, if you want to go down that route swap it for a petrol

body kits wise, obviously vrs kits will fit, aftermarket kits such as ingo noak, CSR, etc.

brakes you can swap of a vrs for 312mm or A3 345mm conversion
