Installing subwoofer & Amp on 2021 Skoda Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new here and glad to see this active forum that might be a good source of information about Skoda!

I want to install a subwoofer and an amplifier on my new 2021 Skoda, it has the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment.

In the previous version, it was possible to hook into the system wires via the CD player in the glove box... In the current model there's no CD player.

where can I find how to disassemble the infotainment to hook the speaker wires?

Any information that you can share would be great as I currently have nothing...

Thanks!

If you’ve still got a rectangular shaped box above the glove box visible when you open it then that’ll be the brains of the head unit (amplifier etc) so it’s probably still the same procedure - harness adapter and pick off the speaker wiring to your amp or signal converter

I don't have a rectangular shaped box in the glove box... anyone knows where it is located?

I think it'll be much like the MK3 - it'll depend which headunit you have.

Lower spec versions will be an all-in-one unit with direct speaker connections, as shown below (5E3 035 869):

Higher spec versions still appear to be split into the display and 'brains'. Given the shape of the second unit (5e3 035 816), it looks like it would still fit in the glovebox:

you're missing the point, this box does NOT exist in the latest models of the infotainment...

Erm, you're missing my point...

It will depend on which headunit is fitted to whether the separate box exists. Both parts I showed above are from MK4 Octavia's with different spec.

As a further example, here are two VCDS autoscans from Mk4 Octavia's:

https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/26100/

https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/26099/

The radio part number in both is "5E3 035 816 B" which is a box, just like the one I showed above, shown here: http://dorian-czesci.sklep.pl/en/product/multimedia-czytnik-skoda-octavia-iv-5e3035816b/

If your car doesn't have a box, it's likely to be a lower spec headunit which is an all-in-one configuration. That would suggest the speaker connections are to the rear of the screen. It's impossible to know for sure as you've not given a part number or anything helpful to narrow down which headunit you have.

I can't find any pictures or info about 5E3035874 on google.

Guess you need to remove it and see what you're dealing with :)

Might be worth buying some time to access https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/ as that's the official source for workshop manuals. It should help you find out where it's likely to be and how to remove any trim to get access.

Did you ever get anywhere with this? I'm interested in hooking a sub up in mine too.

Nothing.... looks like no one knows how to do this...

If you can’t get to the speaker wires from the head unit or screen (whichever system it has) then the only other option would be to intercept the speaker wires front or back and feed them off to something like an audio controls LC2i signal converter/processor and then to your amp/sub. Obviously it’s easier if you can access the wiring behind the glove box rather than in the doors but unless there’s some voodoo magic I’ve not seen before then at some point there will be good old fashioned speaker wires going to each door from either the head unit or an amp, it’s just finding it that’s the challenge.

Get the workshop manual and wiring diagrams from the link I posted above...?

That'll show both where the speaker wires are connected and how to remove any trim/parts to access them, simples.

Honestly, for this I would just go to an installer.

Get them to install something like this:

https://www.audison.eu/products/apbx-10-as2/

I'm personally not a fan, but they do a good job.

And will save you a whole lot of heartache and possible mistakes.

Where are you based?

If you want to do this yourself and know how to do the actual work I would go to an installer and ask them. Be honest and tell them that you want to do the the work yourself but ask the for a quote. Then if it's too much just ask them if you can pay them for a little time to show you what you need to do and what bits you need. It will probably end up cheaper timewise and less frustration than trying to work it out.

Does anyone know the speaker depth (woofers) on the Mk4?

Hello

You have to remove the glove box passenger side  😉
