Okay. Was hoping to avoid as waiting on a delayed new car.

For the sake of £100 I would keep your service history up to date and get it done.

May help with getting rid if the old car, and you may be waiting a lot longer than you expect for the new one.

Just had mine done and got the car back from my local Skoda dealer.

When I booked it in they quoted me £100 for the front diff service and £65 for a brake fluid change which I was also due, I was going to have the brake fluid done by my local Indy but decided just to let them rattle on with both.

When I went to pick the car up it was a little cheaper than expected for both as was done under same job so less labour. They showed me a video of the filter being checked and it was fine and didn't need cleaned. I had queried this with them as apparently some dealers don't check it so all good.

I had it done and asked about the filter.

Service guy read though all the parts he had ordered and looked it up on the system and insisted it did not have a filter. Car going on Sunday so couldn't be bothered arguing the toss🙄

My understanding is the gauze filter does not need to be changed but it does need to be checked and cleaned.

Bump.

?

Who has had their VAQ e-Diff Serviced at a Skoda Main Dealers and how much were you charged for this?

Or,

who has a car with a VAQ e-Diff and has never been told about Servicing in the first 3 years while under warranty and being serviced or since the manufacturers warranty ran out?

Owners beware if not following Manufacturers Recommendations if they make recommendations that is.

I bought (early 2021) my O3 RS 230 (2015 - 98000km) 2nd hand at the Skoda dealer that sold it new and serviced it. The e-diff had not been serviced ... I had to heavily insist that there was an haldex that needed service on the front axle ... Was done a bit late, no issue so fare.

My vRS is in for 3 year service today. The visual health check just came back and mentioned the front diff oil (amber) needing changed after 3 years, £110

I had no idea beforehand that it was a job needing doing (have had separate specific emails /adverts about servicing and brake fluid based on car age) nor did they mention it when I called to book it in. They haven't (yet) called me to ask if I want it done today either.

I asked about it when I collected the car, was told it was "just advisory" and I could get it done another time

I'd want that in writing, as I bet Skoda would have a different opinion if you were to need to claim warranty work on it later. (though perhaps less of an issue if you don't have any warranty beyond 3 years)

I had my front diff oil done on my 230 in March; the same time as the oil change at 40k miles. As far as I'm aware, this is the first time in it's life.

Cost me £110 and was advised to have it done every 3 years or 40k miles, whichever comes first.

Also advised regular oil change yearly or 5,000 miles, Brake fluid every 2 years, Spark Plugs every 40k.

Yeah I'd assume it's only the haldex side that gets serviced.

The actual diff probably shares the gearbox oil as it would in a non VAQ equipt car 👍

Nope, gearbox & diff have different oils

Are you sure?

I've just taken a look a few gearbox workshop manuals I have and when replacing front final drive seals, they all point to the gearbox oil section to refill afterwards. There is no mention of a separate front diff oil anywhere I can see...

The e-LSD/VAQ/haldex takes separate fluids as it's only used for the hydraulic clutch pack and not the actual diff.

@Noms Who was advising you, was it a Skoda Technician.

The VAQ interval is @ 3 years or 30,000 miles.

Was this engine oil that they advised at 5,000 miles or 1 year even though Skoda / VW have the fixed servicing even with Long Life oil at 9,300 or 9,400  (10,000 miles) they can never

decide how to convert km to miles.

It wasn't a Skoda Technician, but an Independent Garage, specialising in MQB platform, specifically EA888 G3.

He was talking from experience, as a preventative measure to avoid any issues.

Strange to recommend you half the oil and filter change miles of fixed servicing for an engine that has not really have an issue even doing variable servicing,

yet to go longer on the VAQ interval.

I wonder how many issues that are seeing with EA888 G3 engines that are left getting Long Life oil changed at 10,000 miles.

Sorry I was specific, mine is a VAQ
