Mk2 FL Bluetooth

Featured Replies

Hi all

After much searching, I can’t seem to find a definitive answer…

I have a 2010 FL vRS CR170 DSG with Bolero entertainment system and Maxidot.

The Bluetooth module (5N0 035 730 B) fitted under the drivers seat works, but the 2010 system doesn’t like my 2020 iPhone. It recognises it, but when I try to pair it says it’s incompatible.

Has anyone taken a module from a newer VAG car and swapped them?

Would this make the car recognise my phone to control calls/stream media?

I’m not excited about spending £400+ on having an aftermarket unit fitted and would like to keep it as standard as possible.

Thanks

It should say 730B, not have an emoji!

that will have been the B  )  you put on ;)

have you tried connecting another phone to the BT? and the phone to another BT? just in case theres a general issue with either? can happen.

@Rustynuts is very good with the HUnits, so probably has some advice too

I'm not too well up on Bluetooth kits, but certainly swapping out the Bluetooth module from under the seat is pretty straight forward. However, for Bluetooth music streaming you might find that the wiring harness only provides single channel audio (moon to the drivers side) so might need another wire from the Bolero to the new module.

Nothing lost by just plugging one in and trying.

Thanks everyone. I’ve ordered a newer BT module from a breaker to see if the straight swap works.

@AScoff the Mrs has something similar in her Mini. I was all up for swapping the head unit for Apple car play but I just want the calls and streaming really. I only do about 7-8k a year!
