Yes, the Aliexpress LED always stay at the same brightness. All the other RGB leds brightness can be controlled except the aliexpress leds

Imagine the LED like a different module. Until you code the new RGB module, you won't be able to adjust the brightness. It must be assigned to a group. But most important is what OEM module or part it represents. Keep in mind that the module is from China, not OEM, so we are not sure if it's the correct group from LIN slaves.

You must play with these, maybe you'll find the address. Ask someone who has the door handles with RGB lights to give you the AD Map:

  • ambient_lighting_lin_slaves_modules-pa_einzeladresse_slave_x

  • ambient_lighting_lin_slaves_modules-pa_verbauinfo_slave_x

  • ambient_lighting_lin_slaves_modules-pa_fehlerort_slave_x

Is there any part number on the RGB module? Do you have a link from the seller or any instructions?

To be honest, I did not do any coding. I am expecting that once I assign the new led to a specific group, I would be able to dimm it otherwise, this amount of light is too much for my taste 😂

I will have a look tonight with vcds and see if I can dimm it.

Should I be able to assign the new led to a specific area and enable a proprietary "sun" for them?!?!

I never had to configure my extension. I simply tapped into the existing lighting's power and LIN signal, and it worked immediately. MQB Classic Seat

So, I tried as a first step to show the new "sun" on the MIB by setting all the ambienteumfang_mehrfarbig to 11111111 to try to show all of the possible controllable areas, but no extra "suns" were shown on the MIB.
All the changes were done on the 09 controller BCM, and after the coding was done, a reset of the MIB was performed. Do I need to code something of the 5F? Could it be that not adding the new LED to a specific group, the sun not being shown?
I have also added the map file.
Thank you!

Ok, so I continued my research and I think the ambienteumfang_mehrfarbig is used to define if an area is colored or not, it explains the fact that after I set bit 3 in one of the channels, I made the MIB unit to display the footwell light as RGB.
So, now I will focus on ambientelicht_verbauinformation_HMI which it should activate the extra "sun" on my MIB unit.
I will give it a try and come back with an update 😼

Very, Very interesting, look here. https://vwcoding.ru/en/MQB/esteticLightsCoding/#_3

Passat B8 Coding Ambiente light Retrofit:

Ambient lighting (multicolor) - Activation

Control unit 09 > Access authorization: 31347 > Individualization > …

> Channel “Interior lighting 2nd generation - smooth color change” > Adjust value to “active” (if desired)

> Channel “Interior lighting 2nd generation center console lighting multicolor” > Adjust value to “active” (if installed)

> Channel “Interior lighting 2nd generation instrument panel lighting multicolor” > Adjust value to “active” (if AID is installed)

> Channel “Interior lighting 2nd generation speaker lighting multicolor” > Adjust value to “active” (if installed)

> Channel “Interior lighting lamp configuration - ambient_application bar in instrument panel” > Adjust value to “installed”

> Channel “Interior lighting lamp configuration - center console lighting” > Adjust value to “installed” (if installed)

> Channel “Interior lighting lamp configuration - free_color_selection_via_HMI” > Adjust value to “not active”

> “Interior lighting "Configuration-Ambient_ColorList_HMI" Channel > Value to be adjusted: "active"

> Channel "Interior Light Configuration-Ambient Menu with all zones" > Adjust value to "active" > Channel "Interior Light Configuration-Ambient Menu with global off" > Adjust value to "active".

After completing the coding, the infotainment system must be restarted via reset (press and hold the power button for 10 seconds).

Ambient Lighting (Multicolor) - Adjusting Colors

The colors are specified in RGB encoding. If a color is set to {R:0, G:0, B:0}, the color will not be displayed. The first three channel blocks are for the infotainment system and the AID (Active Info Display), the second three blocks for the LED ambient strips, which are controlled via the LIN bus. After completing the coding, the infotainment system must be restarted via reset (press and hold the power button for 10 seconds).

Note: The colors are generally displayed 1:1 in the infotainment system and AID. Slight adjustments to the LIN colors may be necessary, as the colors can vary due to the different brightness of the LEDs.

Control Unit 09 > Access Authorization: 31347 > Adjustment > …

Ambient lighting (multicolor) - colors expanded to 30 options

For "Facelift BCMs" (from index BA onwards), there are 20 additional options. Color sets belonging to the Ambience_lightning_color_list_2 & Ambience_lightning_color_list_lin_2 groups. The procedure is analogous to setting the colors in the previous chapter.

Ambient lighting (multicolor) - Change color assignment to driving profile

Activate Control Unit 19 > Coding > Byte 11 > Bit 7 ("FPA_Function_AMB")

Control Unit 09 > Access authorization: 31347 > Adaptation > …

> Channel "Interior lighting 2nd generation Ambient color selection_FPA_selectable_coupling" > Set value to "active"

Channel "Interior lighting 2nd generation Ambient color selection_FPA_selectable_pairing_status_HMI_Default" > Set value to "paired"

> Channel "Ambient light color assignment to driving profile-Driving profile_?" > Adjust value as desired

The assignment may vary depending on the gateway. This may need to be tested. The color values are retrieved from the channel lists "Ambient light color list" and "Ambient light color list LIN". The function must then be activated in the CAR menu under Ambient Lighting.

After some reading over forums and trying different codings, turned out the issue was the fact that even after I did all the changes for the "sun" to be displayed, it won't be displayed until I add the new led to a specific gruppe. Once I did that I was able to see the new "sun" as shown in the picture.

Now, I still can not control the brightness from the new sun(interior mirror), but I can control it from the doors slider and here I have the biggest problem 😂 the china led will display a different colour once is very dimmed(see the pictures below) so I will not be able to use these leds as I was planning to, they are too bright for my taste.

Now that I am thinking, they are supposed to be controlled by the doors slider as the leds are intended for the door handles 😅(just as a side note)

HI add the new map file.
Thank you!

Hello, can i ask you what part number are the Ambient light strips? im looking for some but cant find any for SKODA KODIAQ :(, also what if i buy a symphony ambient kit from aliexpress can i wire it to the OEM ambient kit?

Hello, any aftermarket ambient light that you add to your car will not be controllable from the OEM head unit 😔

Only original ambient light can be controlled from the OEM head unit

okey i see, do thanks. Do you have the ambient strips part number? i cant find them anywhere. i already have ambient in my car but i want to extend it put some more places but cant find the strips

@Honza179 there is a way to extend your ambient light using a combination of oem rgb module with an aftermarket light strip.

Here is a link which will help you: https://www.drive2.ru/l/578970388667566428/

Best of luck!

WOW OKEY BRO thank you i will take a look! but i want to take 12v from doors, do you know where to get it?

Well, you can either take 12v from different pins from the door module(you will need to check the datasheet of your door module) or you can tap a 12V wire, for example the one which provides light to the door buttons . I would say the easiest way is with a multimeter and check for a 12V wire.

Today, I've received a new rgb led module from aliexpress. This one seems to be oem, the light is dimm and nice even though in some situations I can see the component colors, I think I can solve the issue.

For the moment, I did not make any coding but I am able to control the colors and the intensity.

Now, that the light is so nice and dimm, I am planning to use it for the door handles.

Now, I have(which I will not use) 2 rgb lamps for the door handles, and antoher 2 modules, 2 color(white and red)also for the door handles 😂😂

One question: Is the new "sun" icon only available for configuration once participants are actively connected?

No, the sun is available once I add in vcds a new function to a new group. If I remember corect, all the groups have the doors assigned to them, so once I change group 14 to celling light(or panorma) I was able to see the new sun. I don't have anything(no led) connected as a celling light but the sun is still there. I am unable to control any rgb light using the celling sun because all the leds that I buyed are doors intended(there are specific led codes which goes to the celling)

Strange, i have No New sun

Can you post here you the map file? I will try to have a look and maybe find the issue?!?!

IT is your Backup

Edited by Cairus

If your talking about the one that I have post it above, there was no sun activated there. I will activate the sun again on my car and make you another map file so you can se the changes that I made.

I will also try to explain from my memory what and each of the coding does but I will come back with a reply later since I am away from the car at the moment
