Featured Replies

I want to update my Columbus navigation, nut I can’t find where I have to put a SD card (not in the dashboard) or how I can update my navigation for free on another way?

I have the new Skoda infotainment screen

Hi

The online updates (over the air / internet) are officially not available at this time (Oct/2021), with no known date for the service being back.

This is a disgraceful situation for a service that all those owners with this kind of info unit (MIB) have paid for, either in the cost of the car from new ( 1 year free), or via a subsequent payment of about £80 for another year.

Skoda should be ashamed of this level of customer service.

Skoda are refunding my £80 for Connect annual fee because on-line map updates not working.

I was told to try the map download to my laptop and then put it on a USB stick, which I have done but the car does not know that the laps exist when plugged into the car USB port so nothing happens.

The whole thing is a complete farce ,NO not a farce a disgrace how a company like skoda can treat there customers.i know there is a world wide problem but skoda must the worst or very close to it in customer service.

Buy a new sd card from ebay, I did this as a precaution because I didn't want to risk messing up the nav. A card from Czech republic was less than £20 and it worked. I am presuming a new card would sort the problem?

It's not the type of card that's the problem, it's that fact there there is no SD card reader in the car to put one into.

It's that same in my Superb, hence the suggestion from Skoda to use a USB memory card and plug it into the USB port , which can be used by the media option in the car to play music, or read photos, EXCEPT is DOES NOT WORK, the system does not accept the USB memory card as being for the maps, so no update takes place.

Ah bugger. Dreadful. I was assuming they all took a card as the first guy said he lost the card. Sometimes it really is a cast that we are overcomplicating stuff where a sofware hitch can bugger everything up and no manual method to fall back on. I have the cash for a new car and I'm tempted every now and again, but some of the new glitches are really putting me off. My car is just under 20,000 miles and would be about half the value of a new model. I don't think they are twice as good - so for now I'm sticking with a Dec 2018 vRS.

Just done 500 miles after my car was in with the dealer for 2 WEEKS to do map updates and check out a number of software issues.

There were some software updates but no information about what the updates fixed (as usual).

HOWEVER, as if by MAGIC (technician no idea how it happened), my map database is now showing date of 21/9 (previously 20/9). No long winded download either, or any notification that it had done anything - strange me thinks !!!

No way to tell yet about anything new on the map not previously there , but good to see the update.

I have been told by Skoda UK (Exec office) that I will get map updates automatically when I use the sat nav that goes into an area where a map update is available, and it should ask if I want to download it.  I don't believe this is how it will work --

Has anyone else been told this is the way it works.

If you put the correct maps on a USB drive for the cars without SD Slot, then it should automatically update as you drive in background.

That's the theory.

I have download the latest maps from the pinned , I had format stick to exfat,  so I let the stick on the USB or type c and go for a ride ?

My maps are different to yours, this is AFAIK correct way.

Ok i will try it  this Sunday and I will update

Maps in the MK4 Octavia are automatically updated over the air when an update is available.

my Sunday ride , yes the maps update automatically , I know that  because I forgot my USB stick at home , lol.  The update became available  after I had update the infotainment to the latest version at the dealer

Yes, as I told you in the other forum, its very easy. I normally use Google Maps with Android Auto, but sometimes I have to use the built in navigation system, so, as more update is, better.

Thx @adelgadom, for getting back to my messages with a very useful advise.

The big concern for me it was that because I do NOT have the build-in Sat Nav (and I don't want to spend money on this because it's a real crap in my country) the maps upgrade process will not start/work in offline mode. But, in fact I will give it a try on my next long trip (>2h) to see what will happened. I'll come up with an update afterwards.

Cheers

Hello guys,

In this weekend I've tested the above MAP Upgrade process, in offline mode. I can truly say it just worked. I extracted the archive and copied all the files directly on root. The USB stick(prior formatted exFAT) has been plugged in one of the front USB ports on trip longer than 2h. Now, the Navigation Database version is 22.6 - looking at system information.

But, I've just found that a new version is available at: https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-GB/Updates
OI_P95_EU_202325_Offline_Update.zip

I'll try on my next "long" journey.

Cheers

Hi.  I now have a new Superb SEL 2023 - April /23 - the version I have on SAT NAV is 5/23 (May 2023).  The must have updated automatically (over internet) sometime after I  took delivery in April / 23.

Only if you subscribe to the Connect service.

I went to the update portal a week or so ago, entered my cars VIN and was offered a new set of maps & radio logos, haven't bothered with either yet, as I haven't got any long distance journeys planned

Does that apply to a car that is 11 month old and it is a lease car?
