Celtic Tuning with Graham?

Just been looking on their website and i've sent an enquiry about the remap. However, where is it based and whats the price range? (from those who've had experience with celtic tuning)

He comes out to your house and remaps the car on the road.

Can anyone give a bit more information on their service? (i've done a search but only brought up a couple of posts regarding them.)

They are generic but there have been a few takers on this site and they all seemed happy with the service. AFAIK its aroung £300 plus ppm for him getting to you. Quite a bargain, but it is generic so not the best custom map out there.

I have a celtic tuning remap. Its very clutch friendly and has made the car a lot more pleasureable to drive.

Apparantly its tuned to 190bhp now but I havn't had it on a RR yet so I don't know for sure.

The AmD One Click is a bit slower than mine, but not by a lot if that helps.

I'm currently debating chipboost or celtic as they both will travel to me. Chipboost wanted the ECU number on the silver box and also asked what type/feel/increase in power/economy etc i would like. Celtic is a generic claimimg 190bhp.

It was showing as 176, but typically you take the whp and add 18% for a fwd car, so a more realistic figure would be 190 bhp +.

It's only numbers at the end of the day, and all RR's give differant results.

I'd reccommend a drive in one.

Just wondered mate as I know Celtic claim 190 and that all RR's vary. I have had a drive in one - very impressive and very smooth!

not sure if the BHP figures add up here. Celtic say 190BHP from a generic re-map & the AMD one click says up to 35BHP ie 130 to 165 max. & celtic is a bit aggressive but 130 to 190bhp seems very very ambitious....being polite!!!

I've got custom AMD one clip plus ca tback miltek exhaust 172bhp & 290lbs on a RR a few weeks ago.

think new labour spin doctors might be involved somewhere here........

Depends on the RR again mate.

305 ft lbs + 163 at the wheels - dyno proven.

Blueflame exhaust, green cotton air filter, and cupra 160 air intake also fitted.

It pulls away noticably from amd one clicked cars.

First maps by Celtic were quite aggressive, as I had one. Then he tweaked the map, with slightly less torque, now 285 ft lbs. Much smoother, no loss of power.

I'd second shifty's appraisal. I had some glitches but all where sorted out, great considering the glitches where NOT caused by Celtic, Graham still fixed them Gratis and upgraded my map for other mods

highly reccomended!!!!! :thumbup:

PS I met a "tuner" this weekend that specialised in other maps, revo and the like who had driven a Celtic mapped Fabia and was really impressed with it!!

I've got the intake as well..still dont see how 190 can be achevied just from a generic re-map....

best thing to do drive a few different cars with various maps & pick one that suits you best..

...if something sounds too good then it usually is....

Had my Altea 2.0TDi DSG remapped by Celtic today and the map was done for my car and was not completely generic. I understand that they can take parts of the generic map and mix and match to your requirements. Certainly had to allow for the DSG box and have to say it works a treat, plenty of power but so smooth and progressive. A very useable package indeed. Mine is alleged to have 185bhp and 300lbft of torque. Couldn't measure it, but it certainly gives more than the tuning box I had before which was supposed to give 170bhp and 265lbft.

Thinking about having celtic map my fab vrs. Has anyone on here had just the map done as opposed to having new intakes fitted and so on. Liked the sound of what shifty said about tweaking it down to 285lb per ft making it smoother.

The map will still work ok, but will struggle slightly more to rev out without the PD160 intake and the green filter and will smoke like a good un.

I am speaking from experience with my old furby, I personally feel it's a bit of a false economy not to go for the filter and the intake.

Had the old and the new on my old furby, and everything is as shifty says.

I have a Jabba custom map and I've driven a celtic mapped Fabia too albeit with a Milltek turbo back system and must say that the celtic car felt a little faster.

Not sure if this was contributed by the louder exhaust noise though....

Forget the figures, it's the subjective drive that's important and assuming that there is consistancy, I can recommend both Jabba and Celtic

It's not an opinion, its fact, dyno proven 3 times in my case, with consistent results.

Another way to see whats what with some maps, is take a peek at awesome gti's website (other tuners are avaliable) and look at the rolling road pages.

An increase from 130 to 190bhp with just a remap?? That doesn't sound right to me! As far as I was aware most remaps took the outputs to around 160bhp (which is regarded as safe). Surely you'd have to make other changes for 190bhp?

Even if 190bhp can be reached on a standard engine I wouldn't expect the engine/clutch to last long!
