Travel assist retrofit

Featured Replies

You need one with a travel assist button top right. It is blank on the SIII steering wheel if it does not have capacitance.

New wheel isn't covered under warranty. Rest of the car should be unaffected    Ensure you replace the bolt that secures the wheel, and torque it correctly. Also ensure you don't mark/damage

  • Update from my last post. It appears I forgot to add the following changes A5 -> Hc_Variante: 2 A5 -> Klr: Enabled. This one will enable capacitivesensors.   Travel ass

I do not have PNs for the steering wheels with touch sensors, but it will be just like your 2 spoke steering wheel WITH the TA button on the right.

What’s with the Plugs when changing the steering wheel? Is there some adaptation needed or just plug and play?

No, you'll require a new steering wheel control module/clock spring & additional wiring

The new module will be needed online svm or will work right away?

And the additional wiring you mean the red and brown ones or is something more than that?

I am not sure what "svm" stands for, but plugging it in is plug and play. You just need to code it in later.

Some modules are vin locked so when you replace them you need online acces to code it for your car

But this one look like is not one of them so good

Thanks

It's possible to enable TravelAssist without button. Need SW module that can reassign Assistance button logic - single press TA, long press - Assistance

If everything works for you with the installed steering wheel through the travel assistant button. Then set Point_of_intervention to late_setting_over_menu - Current. With these settings, the Travel assistant will work much more pleasantly. The car will still stay beautifully in the center of the lane. And the steering wheel will twitch less. Without the button with the adaptive lane maintainer (fake travel assistant) Point_of_intervention still remains -early. Have a nice day.

Lane assist is an assistant that kicks in when the car is likely to overshoot the marked lane and get you back, so you will be going from edge to edge in wavy lines.

This is for the adaptive lane assist. The travel assist doesn't need it. If you change it, it will pull the steering wheel more aggressively in the middle of the lane. That's all. It's been tested and works better by default.

Hello guys,

Can we summarise what is the best config for Point_of_intervention

flag?

TIA

Hello. Has anyone managed to switch this to option 2 in the A5 Driver Assistance coding?
