I did yesterday a partial scan and the error is not there ... I guess it's because I recoded all back to factory setting, so when I did the scan the tool was not able to find the error. On the other hand, I have static error U112500 for Local data bus - Additional installations detected ... I would say that the bus loop detects the capacitive steering wheel but it's not responsive due to the fact that it's not coded ... or could be another thing, this kind of errors are not well detailed in ODBeleven and ODIS should be used to dig a bit more.

I had the same error U112500 in 19-Gateway module before the KLR coding. You said that you disabled the capacitive steering wheel, probably that's the reason your car is missing B17B8F2 DTC. U112xx DTC is hiding the B17Bxxx error.

New wheel isn't covered under warranty. Rest of the car should be unaffected    Ensure you replace the bolt that secures the wheel, and torque it correctly. Also ensure you don't mark/damage

  • Update from my last post. It appears I forgot to add the following changes A5 -> Hc_Variante: 2 A5 -> Klr: Enabled. This one will enable capacitivesensors.   Travel ass

Gateway coding needs doing for KLR module being installed

However not doing the coding won't cause any other issues except the error message. Leaving the error is a good way to let the dealer know you've been playing around though

Fully agree, I have the same as sfd is needed to code 19.

All works well without coding 19 and sfd trace left

Well well ... Today I deactivated travel assist function, winter is coming here so I started to have erratic "Travel Assist Currently Unavailable" message on the cluster.

In my case it was popping out just a couple of times each ride but my lord, what an annoying figure.

Let's see if they are able to find a software solution, sooner than later, because there are tons of steering wheels out there suffering from this.

Mate set hcvariant to 1.

You loose travel assist but lane assist still works with the.button on the steering wheel, acc still works well with just hands on the wheel.and no errors on VC.

Thanks for this, I will give it I try once I recode it again when winter is over, but hopefully a fix will be released from Skoda at that time, crossing fingers. With the factory setup I have no is enough for me, ACC is working fine but I do prefer to use the classic CC and the lane assist is permanently deactivated, so the outcome matches with travel assist coded with hcvariant 1.

Cheers.

Hi, I was thinking of joining the discussion. I installed adaptive lane assist through OBDeleven one-click apps. And just like all the other poor souls, now my car beeps every 10 seconds. Before I go ahead and buy a new steering wheel, how do I know if the steering wheel does have capacitive sensors but aren’t activated?

Good to know is that i also have the Travel assist button.

After you have activated adaptive lane assist using OBDeleven, how do you enable the travel assist while driving? Does it replace the standard lane assist or you have to activate it using the assistants menu?

So ... the one click app Adaptative Line Guidance is the well known Travel Assist?

To be honest, I was not aware of that release from Voltas IT.

What I would do @Mattian is launch a ticket to OBDEleven stating your issue, let's see what they answer. You have the proper hardware so if the app was build taking into consideration TPI 2069984/7 it was supposed to work properly,

Corret, it has replace the standard lane assist now.

Sure, I saw it and tried to install, and it worked perfectly fine Hm, are you sure I have the right hardware? I can definitely create a ticket. Can i ask what TPI 2069984/7 is?

Hey @Mattian I find it strange that you have the capacitive steering wheel (the one with the travel assist button on the top right) if you didn't order the travel assist from factory. What that button did before you activated the OBD one click app?

Well, not quite sure if the Adaptative Line Guidance is Travel Assist. Read a bit on the OBDEleven forum and there is a post from @azehiel with the detailed coding on modules and there are no entries for coding capacitive steering wheel, so for sure it's not Travel Assist. My assumption is that  Adaptative Line Guidance  is an improved version of the standard Lane Assist. I am not a fan of Lane Assist and it's deactivated for me as default and I did not have active the Adaptative Line Guidance therefore I cannot give my opinion on differences ... but seems that if you do not have capacitive steering wheel is quite annoying.

And I would say yes @Mattian if your steering wheel has button for travel assist, on the paper, should be a capacitive one. Do a test, go to CU13/long coding/byte2/capacitive steering wheel and check if it's enabled or not.

Hey @Grimlock, Nothing feels quite logical here. But the button was there from the beginning. Before it didn't do anything when I pressed it. But now that I have adaptive lane assist, I can activate it by pressing the button directly. Instead of going into the menu. And the yellow marks shows.

The Adaptive is probably an earlier version of Travel, because I can say that once it's activated  (after 58 km/h), the car drives excellently on its own. It follows the road perfectly!

Great advice, I'll look into it as soon as I get hold of an OBDEleven (borrowing from my friend).

Here is a video and picture, hope it shows.

I will give it a try next week, let's see what happens. By the way, I see that you are with ACC on and you do not have the CC option enabled; you could try and check with CC, seems that way works flawlessly.

Yeah, I usually drive with the ACC on. And like you say, it works perfectly! It's just the beeping that gets to me, haha.

for you other guys who have changed your steering wheel. Did your old steering wheel have the travel assist button like mine?

Negative, mine came without button. Curious that yours came with, I guess it was due to manufacturing reasons.

So, I'm ready to buy a used steering wheel with the travel assist button and of course the "touch unit".

As I read, after replacing the steering wheel there should be some coding and that's it. No FEC from dealer and stuff like that. I am right ?

My car doesn't have ACC, just the classic cruise control.

Good news, very good news.

I recoded and it's working smooth as silk, no errors whatsoever in a 15 km ride ... on my previous test with just 900 m I had enough to prove  that the coding was not working and Travel Assist error was triggered on the cluster as always. Tomorrow I have to do the back and forth to worksite, 80km, that will be my real test ... but I am quite confident.

In top of original coding for Travel Assist and combined with the coding for the Adaptative Line Guidance added:

- CU44/long coding/Lane Assistance from NOT ACTIVE to ACTIVE.

- CU5F/adaptations/vehicle function list BAP/LDW_HCA_0x19_msg_bus from CAN_FAS to DATABUS EXTENDED.

Note to @Giannis20 I am afraid that it's not working with CC, you will need to upgrade hardware for ACC as well.

Did you have the opportunity to check this post? You'll find all the questions there.

Like Mattian, my vehicle has the travel assist button that does nothing, I would like to try to code the adpative lane guidance.

Any chance of putting all the coding neccasary into one post so I don't miss anything out? 😅

Thank you.

Detailed below the current coding I have for Travel Assist:

  • CU13/Long Coding/Capacitive Steering Wheel ENABLED
  • CU13/Long Coding/Travel Assist ACTIVATED
  • CU19/Adaptation/Specified Inst. of Sub-bus Users/Control Module for Steering Wheel Touch Recognition YES
  • CU44/Long Coding/Lane Assistance ACTIVE
  • CU5F/Adaptation/Vehicle Function List BAP/LDW_HCA_0x19_msg_bus DATABUS EXTENDED
  • CUA5/Long Coding/HC Warn Intensity SETTING OVER MENU
  • CUA5/Long Coding/Klr CODED
  • CUA5/Long Coding/Hc Variante 1
  • CUA5/Long Coding/Point of Intervention EARLY

Assumption to have it working: ACC + Capacitive Steering Wheel.

The more I check, the more doubts I have about your steering wheel. It's true that you guys have button on your steering wheel, but check this exploited view:

image.png.ddc236512174a76b353707c7926cbd76.png

That's for a 2021 Kamiq, but I would bet a finger that it's also applicable for the Octavia. Maybe you have multifunction touch on the right side with Travel Assist button but with a standard steering wheel as a base, so even with proper coding, it would work but you will have the same experience as @Mattian

Hi, did you manage to, using the advice Mario Delgado gave you, get Travel assist  working with the capacitive wheel? I have a Kodiaq with a steering wheel with the button on it that does nothing and really do not know if it is capacititive or not.

I have managed to activate adaptive lane assist which works but not with that button and I have to put on the distance radar independently and was going to try out his advice too to try and activate travel assist.  Did it work for you? Did you finally have a capacititive wheel or is it just the button?

Thank you.

Hi all, thanks for your posts. It’s on the to do list for later. I’m currently holding off from doing any coding as my car is going into the dealer in October on warranty work for a lot of software/firmware updates (hopefully) I wouldn’t want them to chuck a fit if they see any history of coding and or it all being erased if they do run any updates.
