2002 Fabia mk1 blows hot air from vents at high speed when air-con isn't on

Featured Replies

Bought my Fabia mk1 a year ago and only the 3rd owner with 40k miles on the clock, the car is great spec for its age and is mechanically sound.

However, when I'm driving at high speeds 50+ mph the aircon will blow hot air regardless if the aircon is on or not and whether its set to hot or cold.

I had the aircon regassed about a year ago and blows ice cold, this issue only occurs when on motorways etc.

I've tried to research the problem and seen no specific answer, let alone one related to mk1 fabia's. If anyone has any guidance or seen this issue happen before any guidance would be appreciated as summer is incoming and I don't want to melt!🤣

There's a wee vent at the front of the climate system. Pull the front panel off and clean it. :)

Do you know if there are any guides on how to do this?

Thanks

Unless someone comes in before me to explain it, then I'll go out and grab some photos and make a wee write up later on for you. :)

The little grille to the right and slightly below the AC button. The panel comes off by pulling from the bottom to loosen, then waggling and persuading the top to pop free. Bending it will probably break it. Can use a flat blade to prise off the vertical side trims to help. Excuse overspray on historic attempt to lose the multiple shades of grey/black interior plastics please.

Thought it would be easier to speak it all out in a video instead of trying to do a write up. :)

Canny guid video wee man! :)

@NM1199 - My other thought was is the temperature control maybe stuck on "hot" when the AC's off?

I have a mate in Peebles whose accent sounds very much like yours, Ryan.
