Karoq Fuel Consumption

Featured Replies

Had a decent long run late august - West coast of Scotland and back. Apart from fuel being 7p a litre cheaper than nottinghamshire, I filled up inb Lochgilphead on the bank holiday and drove home, yesterday I did a return trip to stevanage on the A1 and this is my return leg from around 5Pm on the A1. 64.9 Mpg  Overall consumption for the tank was 58.9 Mpg.

Not bad I think!

Mine is a 1.5 TSI and I average around 44mpg around town, to work and back ( Sheffield is full of hills). One a longer trip with care I can do around 49-50mpg but I have to drive carefully, so you must have a very light foot indeed

I was at similar figure to the OP northbound untill i reached the other side of Glasgow, hills and gears dont help. Still fairly healthy though.

OldBluebird, were those consumption figures as shown on the car display or were they measured from refuelling stops.  The mileometer readings in my 1.0 SE Tech DSG (MY2019) seem accurate, judged against motorway 'furlong' posts, but the consumption figures shown are about 4% optimistic compared to tank refills.  This 4% optimistic figure seems typical for the Karoq, judging by what others say on Briskoda.

Either way, your consumption figures are very impressive. I've noted several times that the best I've got so far on my DSG is 53mpg (The Karoq didplay showing 55+mpg).

Does anyone have actual fuel consumption figures for a Karoq Sportline 2.0 DSG 4x4?

I have seen Skodas figures but would appreciate consumption figures in the real world!

Have you not checked out Honest John Real MPG.  These are real world figures as submitted by readers.

This is the best motoring website around.

I have 2.0 4x4 DSG (not Sportline) and according to the car we routinely get 52mpg. I realise that's not necessarily accurate.

Hi Geoff, just picked up my 2019 Karoq Sportline 2.0 DSG 4x4 with  19" wheels yesterday and its showing 22mpg from a short 2 mile stop /start drive into town whereas  my Seat Ateca 1.5 tsi used to show about 28 mpg. Give me a few more weeks of getting used to it and i can post some better fuel figures . I would be interested to know what sort of fuel figures you are getting, although anyone who buys a 2.0 4x4 already knows they are going to take a fuel hit :)

I have the 2ltr 4x4 DSG and over 4 1/2 years I average 45mpg .

On long trips I can get mid 50s and mid 30s tootling around town.

Figures are corrected as the comp is around 3-4 miles optimistic .

I'm happy with it.

Are you asking about the petrol 2.0TSI or the diesel 2.0TDI?

I have the petrol Sportline 2.0 TSI DSG 4x4, and find my fuel consumption varies between the mid 30s (for 6 mile trips to the shops using a 50mph dual carriageway and 30 mph urban roads) and the mid 40s when cruising at 70 along quiet motorways on longer journeys. These are measured brim to brim when refilling the tank and not from the instrument panel readings which are invariably around 5% better.

My records also show the fuel consumption is worse in winter, but the sure-footedness of the 4x4 system and the ready acceleration for overtaking make it very acceptable to me bearing in mind I'm not driving as many miles each year as I used to.

Chris

Perhaps I should add that my car is a MY21 model, and Skoda claim improved fuel consumption for the MY22 cars.

Chris

@CJJE

Skoda do not claim fuel consumption figures since the WLTP came in, they can only publish the results of the WLTP for comparison purposes.

What differences are there with MY21 & MY22 models to affect them during the test regime?

http://skoda-auto.com/services/wltp

The September 21 Karoq brochure quotes the Sportline 2.0TSI WLTP fuel consumption as 35.3 - 34.5, while the April 22 brochure quotes 37.2 - 36.7. I seem to remember the MY22 press release mentioning some tweeks to the engine to reduce CO2 figures etc.

Interestingly the facelifted Karoq which is claimed to have improved aerodynamics quotes 36.0 - 35.4 mpg.

Re 2.0 TDi 4x4 DSG mpg, this is just over 2 years of real world (fuel in vs distance done) figs.  👍

Does French diesel still have a higher calorific value thank UK diesel?  In the early 90's I managed 40 mpg holding 100 mph for several hours on the Autoroute in my Citroën BX TZD Turbo.

Outrageous! How dare you Sir?   Our 2019 190 TDI is currently displaying a long-term average of 39.1 mpg.

You just have to be nice to her, with lots of whispering sweet nothings in her ear.  🤣

Saying that, expect my mpg to tank as I haven’t sat in Skippy, or whispered anything to her, since the last refuel at the end of July as now on a 3 month trip in Canada.  She’s not going to be happy!  😁

Much too anthropomorphic for me.  We bought a 190 because we wanted the extra performance and to be fair, I think 39 mpg is pretty good considering how it gets driven,

Shhhhhhh, she’ll hear you!!

I’m ok with the 150bhp output, plus really appreciate the 4x4 side, with full winter tyres, through full-on Highland winters.  And really enjoying total reliability after almost 30 years inhabiting the driver’s seats of LRs.  Re my 50mpg, that’s a result of prob 90% of my miles being on long Mway hauls at 60 - 65mph.  👍

Hi Guys,

I’d like to thank you all for the information re fuel consumption figures.

I have had 4x4s before and realise you do take a bit of a hit on consumption but living where I do it’s worth it.

I found the Sportline incredibly comfortable. However I couldn’t get away with the 19” rims with low profile tyres as we regularly visit friends who live in a farmhouse next to a disused quarry and the road is unbelievably bad.

I toyed with the idea of changing the rims to a smaller size with a higher profile tyre but the leasing company refused my request!

The result is I have ordered a new Honda HRV e-HEV which should arrive next July or August.

Just returned from a month long holiday in Europe towing a 1300kg caravan, sticking to 90klm/53mph  was able to achieve 34mpg average over 2000miles  In the UK returning home travelling 220 miles from port could barely get 30mpg from uk fuel explains a lot, 2.0tdi -150bhp

Reads to me like you're comparing an average mpg over 2000 miles to an avaerage over 220 miles. I wouldn't expect them to be the same. Additionally, would I be right to assume the average European temp over your month long trip was higher than the temp over that single journey at the end of your trip  of 220miles?  That alone would explain the difference.

Nobody, when discussing mpg, ever states whether they are running with aircon on or off.

My aircon is permanently on summer and winter.

tom

Aircon for me is always on. 👍

1.5T FWD mostly highway driving. have gotten 22kmpl as well. but over all average since last refuel is between 17-18kmpl. In Eco mode and using ACC.
