Hi there,

any fault codes? Have you enabled the correct swap codes? Got the correct adaptations? GPS plugged in and getting signal?

please provide more detail?

Did you have nav before? If not then you are probably missing the gps antenna. Should be straight forward enough to get one and plug it in.

Just a fyi, aftermarket antennas don’t generally have the correct resistance so may leave a fault code.
they do still work, just get a open circuit code normally

Good morning Swenk,

could you please give me the detailed instruction as how to dismantle MIB2.5 main infotainment system?
Because with the help of technician I will be fitting my virtual cockpit fitted?
But it looks like the MIB 2.5 central info system in my 68 skoda superb is embedded into the relative parts or connections which I could not work out in order to reach the back of the Main screen and I need to attach my Triangular MOST fibre optic cable?
By looking around the mains screen I can see any access point in order to dismantle it? I am a newbie here obviously maybe taking it out is not so difficult but I don’t know how and where to begin with what tools I need to try to get into dismantling it totally mystery since it is embedded into the dash quite good and I can not see any starting point?
Urgent help needed needed since it is my duty to dismantle all the units and make it ready for the coding /adaptation engineer/technician ready?

please please do reply this message at your earliest if possible as we will be fitting the virtual dash soon so the 3 components need to be wired to each othe by using the most cable (triangular shape most cable; one comes from the main radio/Sat nav unit which is located in the glowbox compartment ; I can take this easily with the keys? But as it comes to the MIB central display dismantling I am totally alien? Don’t know anything which trims to be removed in order to reach to some screws maybe (this is my own assumptions?
Any help from forum members highly appreciated and will be thanked numerously for the full instruction of that is possible with the photos or screenshots of the dismantling or retrofitting both will help.

I do thank you all of the forum members even though I addressed this to Swenk? I am sure that there are forum members here they know inside out of this task and carry out dismantling or refixing the MIB 2.5 screen with a breeze.

Once again I do thank, all of you irrespective whether you help me or not?

With my best regards

There is no MOST connection on the display.

The points with a most connection are;

5F unit glovebox

Canton amplifier

Instrument cluster

TV tuner

(not all are fitted in all cars)

To remove the screen you need 4 removal keys but there is no need to remove it if you are looking for a MOST port.

and just so you are aware when you swap the new instrument cluster in without any coding you will not be able to start the car as the immobiliser will not work.

Hi ApertureS,

Thanks very much for your rapid reply.

1. I know how to remove 5F unit in the glowbox,

2. I don’t think that I have got canton amplifier (I think this should be located under the passenger seat which is free from amplifier,

3. Instrument cluster can be dismantled easily; I have no problem with this with this either,

4. TV tuner I don’t know if my vehicle has got this function?

Could you please direct me to the link IF THERE IS ANY DIAGRAMS or screenshots ABOUT HOW TO DISMANTLE THE MAIN SCREEN

Because I was told by the engineer/technician who will be carrying out the adaptation and coding I need to run the triangular MOST wire behind the main screen?

You don’t need to dismantle the main screen, you are just running a wire behind it which can be done without taking it out.

But if you still want to remove it, you need 4 radio removal keys and insert them in the 4 horizontal slots on the display, one in each corner

Good morning ApertureS,

Thanks very much for the effort you are trying to put in and your advice?

advice?
I am sorry to let you know that the new touch screen ones; (the buttonless ones) a bit more complicated than it seems; on the examining the full screen I have only found two holes on the base (bottom protruding parallel edge) of the main unit and tried to insert the compatible removing keys into the holes; but it looks like the only holes on the bottom (base surrounding) does not take any part of the compatible keys? It looks like they are blocked for some reason?

so far I have been searching for the proper removal instruction of this main screen located in the middle of the console unfortunately could not find anything? People /users claim that these screens are removed in the same manner; but this is not true to be honest?
maybe someone with proper ETKA repair info can advise us?
As for the running MOST cables/wires behind this unit is extremely difficult plus I believe that triangular MOST cable inserted on the back of the unit? If the main unit is not connected to the currently fitted traditional digital cockpit (note this is not the virtual cockpit) ?

So, I am still stuck in the dark for this point?
The users of this forum reading this post; please direct me to the right person who could be experienced forum user or a professional engineer/ technician who can do this fir be at the reasonable cost as well as retrofitting my own (already purchased HIGHLINE reverse camera?
The experienced forum user (who carried four similar task) or the professional who will be retrofitting my Virtual cockpit and reverse camera will be local to Manchester M13 area and will be charging a reasonable fee?

Otherwise there are more than 6-7 workshops who are willing to fit these at extremely high cost which are not acceptable?
Anyone with a good experience in fitting these two parts or forum users with a pice of info about the fitters or themselves are experienced fitters are invited to carry out these two retrofitting? We will discuss the cost and arrangement of venue for the work to be completed?
I do thank you in advance for all of your valuable advice and help on this matter

Regards

I have told you exactly how to do it correctly which is based of me doing many of these and also Erwin (etka is for parts, not repair manuals).

your keys, have you got a photo of them?

there are 4 slots, please look harder, 2 near the top corners and 2 on the slanted bit of plastic below the screen.

I’ve already told you the screen has NO most connection at all, it uses a LVDS fakra connector for image display and is not on the MOST network at all.

The standard cockpit does not have a MOST connection either as it is not required.

I am more than experienced in this task as I do this professionally on a day to day basis so if you wanted to travel down to north London to get your work carried out by someone competent and reasonably priced please let me know.

otherwise the information I’ve given you above is accurate and covers everything you need to know

Hi Swenk,

could you please let me know the details information about how to remove the main unit (MIB 2.5) as you have retrofitted it?
i need to remove mine in order to run a most cable/wire behind it or need to run/connect triangular MOST cable behind it? I removed the 5F unit from its location by using the compatible keys (even though I did not disconnect the quad lock plug from the behind of the 5F ; but even I’d so there was no space to put your hand through in order to run any wires/cables behind the main unit without dismantling it?
So I really appreciate your help if you provide me how to take the MIB 2.5 screen out from the dashboard?
SK that I can run the wires/cables behind it comfortably?

thanks for your cooperation and help on this matter.

Well now you’ve described it in a bit more detail and made clear you haven’t removed the glovebox no wonder you can’t run any wires.

remove the 5F and then the glovebox with 6 torx screws and you’ll have loads of room to run the wires.

You keep asking the same question and have even said others have said the same as me to remove the display - yet we must all be completely wrong? I’ve described how to do it exactly, it won’t be any different for anyone else when there is only one way to remove it.

see the attached photo, there are 2 holes at the top requiring the keys to be inserted and there are 2 holes just below the gloss display that require the other 2 keys.

Hi Jr rs,

what you have written here in the forum is reflection of who you are. So I do thank you for your statement.
Nobody asked your views about this?

whatever has been mentioned by ApertureS has been taken on board and noted.
Please don’t worry about others too much with your premature mind? If you need to do so; please look in the mirror and whoever you see in the mirror worry about him.😂

Hi ApertureS,

Could you please let me know how much is the cost of retrofitting fitting of the Virtual cockpit as well as reverse camera then once I am free to come down I will do so as long as the retrofitting price for those two item in question above is reasonable? Of course I trust your professionalism since you are the first person to give detailed information about this retrofitting in details? I strongly believe that you understood me wrong? Because I wanted to run the cables/wires without removing the glovebox so that it is simply having a good ample space for me to work and run the wires and cables through? But I also wanted to check back of the main screen as I was told to use a triangular MOST Wires (you also stared this MOST cable 2 females and 1 male) by others me thinking that 1 plug goes and connects to the main unit in the glove box, second one connects to the MIB 2.5 then third one connects to the virtual cockpit? This was my assumption but, in your latest post you made it clear that there is no connection to be made to the MIB 2.5 (main screen) Obviously now it is clear that this is not the case?

Could you please reply this as a PM and opening hours of your work shop and address of it? As well reasonable price for fitting these two items;

1- my own reverse camera supplied by myself (bought from China as HIGHLINE one. Not the cheap one)?
Plus I bought a Chinese VC as you stated that they are perfectly okay you fitted a few and you have not experienced anything bad so far?

So, waiting for your reply as a private message to my inbox?

I really appreciate your effort you have already to put into this matter and still trying to do so and I do thank you in advance for your cooperation and help😊

with my best regards

Thanks for doing so good resident member whose responses do not comply with his forum status…..

The mib2.5 unit is the main glovebox unit. The screen is only a screen.

Hi There,

Someone told me the other way around. Thanks very much for correcting this point. I really appreciate your correction.

Cheers
