2023 280ps L&K replaced 2016 220ps Style

Recommended Posts

First emotions after one weekend and first ~400 kms

20230218_092944_ED_50p.thumb.jpg.0258102ba508b637e5a9244501d03eae.jpg

Have to start by few huge disappointments:

1.
Line assist goes from one side of line to other side ping-pong 😞

previous 2016. kept middle of the line

+++ 2023.03.01 +++

dealer answered, additionally to Line Assist must be activated also Travel Assist, not tested yet

+++ 2023.04.07 +++

ping-pong effect can be little bit improved, but fix requires cam software downgrade

-> https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/510961-2023-280ps-lk-replaced-2016-220ps-style/?do=findComment&comment=5746167

2.
Adaptive Cruise Control missing manual mode 😞
few kms in snowing condition and there is none Cruise Control at all
my previous 2016. also had this lack,
but i have seen several posts where were reported new [Mode] button on bottom side of Cruise Control stick,

Capture.JPG
when(~2017~) it came and when(202?) it were removed?

+++ 2023.03.01 +++

solved by coding

-> https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/511031-standard-cruise-control-on-an-acc-equipped-superb/?do=findComment&comment=5737174

20230228_CruiseControl_add_2.thumb.jpg.0f6023678440b9c010fa659302250dd5.jpg

3.
Engine has lost a cover 😞

as result it's loud as diesel, just without tractor vibration.
still waiting for answer from dealer, will it be added later or never

+++ 2023.03.01 +++

dealer answered, will arrive, no one knows when.

+++ 2023.04.24 +++

retrofitted Engine Cover 06Q-103-925-L for 2.0 TSI 280ps DNFE

+++ 2024.01.15 +++

received an invitation from dealer

4.
Every ignition On/Off resets Driving mode

5.

Mib3 head units don't allow upload logos of Radio Stations

20230301_Missing_Radio_Logos.thumb.jpg.e6e92c33e7541b3846f42d919e57e707.jpg

+++ 2024.01.18 +++

managed to find how to update built in database
-> https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/520105-radio-stations-logos-database-updates/

Minor disappointments:

1.
L&K had to get Direct Tire Pressure Monitoring System, but mine came without.
not a big deal, as i prefer alternative independent dTPMS sets from Ali,
just for what reason i have bought and mounted second OE sensors set into winter wheels?

2.
There is no coding to activate Eyelashes with DRL 😞

3.
9l on 100km fuel consumption where previous 2.0 TSI 220ps had 7.5

4.
Škoda's Moon White isn't white at all 😞

20230219_100458_50p.thumb.jpg.d34be491fb3ba9ee10582477bf228618.jpg

20230218_093621_50p_ED.thumb.jpg.ee831502f28910ee428bea5ceba97617.jpg

Huge improvements:

1.
2023. Amundsen Canton soundings much better than 2016. Columbus Canton :)

and i predict, it will even improve after adding sound deadening

2.
Finally i have got feeling of new car, 2023. DCC suspension has zero parasitic sounds.
Instead 2016. DCC had them from beginning and weren't fixed even after couple of manipulations -
warranty change of rear brushes, both front shocks, 3x steering rack,
and later replace all of shocks to Bilstein B6 DampTronic,
which hugely improved driving performance, but noises were gone just partly

yes, new DCC is softer than perfect tandem, Bilstein B6 + Eibach Pro, but acceptable in sport mode, at least for first years

3.
Webasto auxiliary heater can be activated from MyÅ koda app

4.

Blind-spot indicator on Mirrors body is much better place

5.

Boot opening now asks for long press of button,

but can't be closed from interior, Mk3 had coding for that, Mk3.FL hasn't 😞

. . .

. .

.

Nice upgrade.

Increased consumption is to be expected with more losses being AWD and a higher tuned engine. Are the tyres also wider? More friction.

Moon white is a nice colour, it has a warmer look and in certain lighting conditions looks very good. It is also glossy in appearance which is rare on a white car. I swear you'd pay more as an option for this type of white on some other makes.

Your new car looks great.

Is the 'manual mode' you refer to as shown in the picture below?. I thought this didn't give the option of manual cruise control but swapped between ACC and speed limiter (this is now done on the digital screen on the latest model).

In my eyes the moon white has a touch of grey about it, personally I quite like it.

My 2c…

I really dislike the chrome strip on the rear of the car. 🤮
Why doesn’t the L&K have a Columbus unit? (I think our 2016 version is excellent btw).

All radar controlled ACC systems deactivate when the radar unit is covered in sh1te and snow.

You didn’t mention the performance of the 280 vs the 220 - you’re not impressed?

as i have read reports, DQ381 7 gears is more economical than DQ250 6 gears
current winter tires are same size as previous 225/55r17
summer will increase in width and decrease in height/circum, 235/45r18 vs 225/55r17

then i had false expectations about [MODE] button,
yes, Speed Limiter can be chosen on Virtual Dashboard

1.

+1 000 000

i have even sent letters to dealer, importer and Å kodas CZ support for new options in configurator:
a) ~400e Black Exterior pack Light (Door Trims)
b) ~600e Black Exterior pack Medium (Door Trims, Front Grill, Trunk Trim)
c) ~800e Black Exterior pack Extended (Door Trims, Front Grill, Trunk Trim, Spoiler)
d) ~1000e Black Exterior pack Complete (Door Trims, Front Grill, Trunk Trim, Spoiler, Roof, Rear Skirt)

2.

that were first years privilege, now even Amundsen is paid option 410e

while Columbus costs 1370e, but i chose Amundsen mostly because real volume control roller

3.

sad

4.

I try to limit myself, while numbers on odometer is smaller than four symbols :)

but one change is noticeable, sensitivity of accelerator increased,
if compare with previous, somewhere between normal and sport mode

@MartiniB

I believe the 220 dq250 has been geared longer than the 280 dq250 so it might have well been doing the same RPM/speed as the new 280 dq381.

The old 280 dq250 is about 2500rpm at 110km/h in 6th gear.

The 220 dq250 is about 2000rpm at 110km/h in 6th gear.

Daft ratios for the 280 but it is what it is....lol

That would be nice to have - I wonder if it allows a bit of over-run on downhill sections rather than braking ?

Are we saying there is a way to have three options, ACC, CC and speed limiter?

Can this be done on a 2017 pre- facelift?

After 2 years I still can't get used to ACC and yearn for the old style CC like in my old mk2 Octavia.

I'm of the opposite opinion and really like it, looks quite plain without it.

Good job we're all different otherwise there would be one model only!

Apols to the OP for hijacking this thread, your new Superb looks amazing.

I'll start a new thread in relation to coding standard cruise control to a vehicle with ACC.

@Codename47

yes, ordered from AliExpress

€64    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004825796047.html

it had small, almost invisible paint defect,

which were repainted just because together with roof, mirrors bodies and rear skirt

i so much like Sportline exterior look, but don't like one piece seats,

especially when they can't have ventilation

That were false expectations, which were born in my sick head.
As my previous 2016. Mk3 had "Tire Pressure Monitoring System",

but in new 2023. Mk3.FL papers i saw "TPM+ with each tire pressure control".
That stupid "+" means Passive TPMS can show which exact tire has problem, not a Direct TPMS as i wrongly imagined.

Option 7K3 - RDKS can be add only for Kodiaqs.

Has Superb lost flagship status?! I can't agree just after touch of interior!

Sad to report, but here is how Å koda's Simple Clever transformed to Save cents by add Drawbacks

Magnetic Trunk Light Lamp has been gone
i used it just once, but it were useful when had to mount spare wheel quarter past midnight

Mib3 Amundsen flaws if compare to Mib2H Columbus
1. Lost opportunity to upload Radio Stations Logos
2. Lost opportunity to manually tune FM stations
3. Can't even see what frequency is tuned right now
4. Several Menu Sections don't contain return button
5. I weren't able to find section with loaded maps version info

Start-Stop has got additionally to previously annoying
1. Cut Off Engine before full stop.
new, not less annoying, "feature"
2. Engine wakes up, when car in front moves even few cms

On the right hand side of the screen press 'Menu', then from the pictures select 'Settings', then scroll down to 'System Info' where you can see the map info.

Mine is currently 23.2

My MY17 Superb does this already.

It will cut the engine before the car has come to a complete stop.

When the Start-Stop is active with ACC engaged, it will restart the engine when the car infront starts moving.

I prefer the start stop cutting the engine off before a stop, it lets you come to a smoother stop since you don't have the resistance from the engine/DSG wanting to creep forward.

It’s rather annoying though when you almost stop then want to go again at a roundabout or crossroads…!

Mine does a very similar thing, not always, I assumed it was just the pedal hitting a hard stop at the top of its travel. My car is now 5 months old and has often done this since new, having its first service next week so I'll mention it to the dealer.

Still disappointed how Lane Assist works in MY23 Superb Mk3.FL
if compare to my previous MY16 Superb Mk3,
where Adaptive Lane Guidance:
1. were able kept center of the line.
2. and were permanently active, just by select one check box in assistants section

while new car:
1. still makes ping-pong within lane,
 with both early/late parameter, early just made it less annoying.
2. and Lane Assist (trough Travel Assist button on steering wheel)
 have to be reactivated every time after ACC were switched off/on

The Ping Pong effect is wanted from VAG, not to think you are driving half autonomous. It’s a security thing.
I let downgrade my cam Software to use the straight in line driving again like it was up to 2019 VAG models. You need a guy with Odis or Vcp for that.

what created next questions:

which module?
to what sw version?
is then calibration required?
