Trunk Torch/Light - LED Upgrade

Featured Replies

Im looking at offering the following modification for people if anyone is interested.

So the removable boot torch has nice white LED's for the torch part, but the actual boot light is an ugly dull yellow light not very fitting with a modern car as pictured below.

Im looking to see if  anyone would be interested in the following service;

You post me your torch and once I receive it and inspect to make sure its undamaged and in fully working, I immediately send you out a replacement bright pure white LED torch. So a 1 for 1 swap without having to wait for the work to be done as I have some premade.

Or if people want their specific one back or it is damaged I can happily do the work on their torch and send their exact one back to them - just means it will take a little longer.

So you are probably wondering the outcome of this work and what it will look like afterwards, please see below;

For those wondering cost, I was thinking £20 is reasonable, that will be the cost of the parts, my time to carry out the work and return postage included.

So, what do we think? Would any of you be interested?

(Will only be offered in the UK due to postage costs overseas)

For something like that all I could offer is to carry out the work then glue it shut for you?

Wat about for us international peeps?

Though shipping would b a concern.

I would b certainly interested in having my torch light changed from yellow to white.

I already changed to Kopacek boot lights.

It bugs me every time I open the boot.1916824975_megapowerbootlights.thumb.jpg.8d99b7094b07a59c8eb46922ead4aab6.jpg

I mean if you wanted to i'm more than happy to do it for you, from the UK to Australia is around £20 for the postage one way. But you may be able to find someone who does smd soldering in AU cheaper?

Cheers AS. I haven’t touched it for years since the first and last time, so I’ll have to have a look and see if it’s possible to repair it. Last time I looked for a replacement, the cost was so ridiculous I ditched the idea.

Hi I'd be interested - though I'd prefer mine back (replaced the batteries recently).

Let me know if you go ahead with this service.

Like many I have replaced my tailgate (and all the footwell ) lights with led and the torch doesn't match!

Thanks

Done roughly 7/8 now if any more people are interested.

Can normally turn them around in 48 hours and have them back in the post :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I wish I'd taken a before pic. I've combined this upgrade with some leds from copacek on the tailgate. Now I can actually see inside the boot at night, and they match perfectly. Quick turnaround too.

It's awesome.

Thanks ApertureS.

How do I get in touch with you to get this mod done? I am no social media or laptop expert.

Hello, do you still offer this service?

I hope he still does because I still have not gotten around to ask him to do one for me

Sorry I’m not offering this at the moment as I don’t have the time anymore to do it for people!

sorry!

Oh ... I got time, do not worry ... is very low in the list of priorities!!

Like you, I got to get rid of many things before it ... so I understand you very well!

What happened with the areaview?

Hi, very late to the party but wondered if this is still a thing you are offering, or there is anyone else offering the same thing

He hasn't been on since July last year but even before that he was dropping it I think as too busy. Pity as he was a font of a lot of detailed knowledge so big loss.

Ah that’s a shame. It looked like a good mod and as others have mentioned a constant niggle of the difference in colour when opening the boot!

Thanks for letting me know.
