My TMC has never worked in Scotland, it kicks into life when I drive south of the border. Or did until it conked out earlier this year.

But now I have changed 15 to 14, it not only works again but does so in Scotland!

Thanks to all who spread this information. You would think that Skoda UK would also have this fairly simple piece of information to get the TMC working again! But then again, maybe not!

See Rizmod’s post earlier in this thread. Change the adaptation in module 5F for the TMC from 15 to 14, which changes the traffic data provider. Using VCDS or whatever.

Wow! That’s great news - I’ll give that a go!

I had a look at this using my OBD11. Entered 5f found TMC. Clicked on it and it came up with 15 as per stated. However when I clicked on the 15, thinking it would allow me to change it to 14  I got a white panel with three small dashes in the top left and the number 0 - 65535, and the options to click 'Cancel or OK'. Decided not to try changing this number and cancelled. Came out of OBD and found the volume on the radio had disappeared, no sound. Tried turning it up but the sound bar didn't move. Turned it down and the soundbar went down to 0 . Turned it up and sound bar didn't move. So I gotout of the car and came on here to see what others think. TIA.

Brilliant! All done and TRAFFIC is up and running again!! Thanks to Rizmod and Tell for their help!! 👍🏻

Further to my last post here is what I saScreenshot_20230622-124133.thumb.png.4a9f479f73af2da3082d77c45b14d01e.pngw

I’ve no experience with ODB11 but can’t you just type 14 into the box where it says 0-65535? The latter number of course being the maximum value a 16 bit binary number can take.

Alternatively you could try to reset the infotainment by the long 10 second press on the on/off button

Thought of putting 14 in box but I have very little experience of using OBD11 either. Didn't want to risk messing it up. Regarding the radio sound, I am leaving it off until tomorrow and see if it works then. There are a few posts on here of things malfunctioning but next time switched on is ok. If it isn't ok in the morning i'll try resetting it.

Ok, don't know much about binary, and understand even less. But checked on Google and binary for 14 is 1110. Do you think I should enter this or just the number 14. Am I liable to really screw things up? Don't normally worry to much about tfc announcments, I use WAZE, so not a great loss if I can't get them.

By the way, Radio ok this morning.

No you would enter 14. I just mentioned the binary thing to explain why the maximum number quoted was 65535.

YES. But you’ll need access to VCDS to enable it. It’s so simple, I’m astonished that VAG haven’t told their multi marque dealer network how it can be fixed. Oh.. hang on…

Worked a dream on 2016 model using OBDeleven. 15 changed to 14, reset and have traffic alerts.

Hi,

I've just tried to apply this mod, but I have missed something in the explanations above.

I did not find this 14 / 15 story...

Here is what I've looked at:

5F Module > 10 Adaptation

Selected "IDE05111-Fee-based traffic Information (TMC)"

Found 32771 value.

I did not change anything.

Can anyone explain step by step what shall be done ?

Shall I replace the 32771 value by 65535?

TIA for your help!

I just changed value in box to 14. and started getting some traffic announcements, but not so comprehensive. Still find Waze better though.

Which box are talking about ? Do you mean replacing the 32771, I've mentioned above by 14 and that's it?

Sorry if I don't catch you.

Yes, I clicked on 15, got a box with 32771 and changed that to 14.

Ok, I´ll try that.

Thanks

Hi,

I've tried this mod this evening: changed 32771 into 14, but still No TMC. Then went back to original coding.

2 possible reasons:

- My Mk3 is a MY2017 (1 year 'too old') ?

- I don't live in UK. It may be different for France...🤔

Neverminds...

The tfc announcments arn't as comprehensive, only local radio stations. (or not so local) I,m in Somerset and only get Welsh announcements . Drove up to Scotlalnd last month and got local updates all the way.

I often get Somerset announcements in South Wales!

That’s odd. When I hit the TMC button, it’s starts locally but then, slowly, it continues ‘til I get the whole of the mainland U.K. It takes a minute or so to complete but it’s all there and it the. Just keeps updating. If you then tap the individual item, you get more detailed info on the incident.

Are you sure that it is the TMC button and not TP? When I press TMC all I get is the right wide of the display going blank and no text updates ever arising. But on the other hand I do get the local and national radio traffic bulletins over the cars audio, but they do not interact with the SatNav unlike TMC would do if the traffic situation would impact on any route you were following on the SatNav.
