Good job you noticed that, otherwise you could be paying the higher rate in the believe that you were getting the lower rate.

Having to finish charging from 80% to 100% again at a charger not part of Charge Place Scotland or the council as that only rapid charger out of order as usual and yet again the 43kW AC tethered I was using and getting 11 kW at cut out at 80%. I will be charged £5 for £3 worth of electric and will now pay £3.50 here to get the 20% charge rather than risking charging there anymore and being charged £5 minimum.

Bit of a minefield for the uninitiated this charging at public charger malarkey, I couldn't imagine pulling up at a diesel pump and having to fill up to a point and then naffing off to another one to get a full tank.🤔

@Graham Butcher I think if you really try you could imagine, and also think back to the Oil Crisis in the 1970,s, rationing, and fuel shortages since.

Limits on fuel you could actually get.

Yes the EV charging is very much a minefield that many have not the faintest of an inkling they are going to face with Charge Place Scotland and many of the 32 Council Areas in Scotland.

There is really no comparison is there with liquid fuel though!

We are talking about an infrastructure in Scotland that is less than fit for purpose and has held back Commercial Investment by many years.

Business were having to compete with Free Charging at chargers owned by Councils,

& owners getting grants to install chargers had to provide charging FREE for 2 years.  (Some dodgy ones made sure the chargers were out of order to the public but still working for their vehicles...)

UK Public use Filling stations are not Owned and Run by local councils like some EV chargers in Scotland and then Maintained or not & then Administered by a Commercial Business badly on behalf of a Government Agency and the Local Authority so really the General Public and for running things badly millions of public money goes to them.

Haha, that was not a problem for me really when that happened, despite me having at the time a big heavy gas guzzler, a 3 litre Vanden Plas. I was only going to and from home to a factory making strangely enough oil field equipment (Halliburtons), about 1.5 miles away, so I sold the car and used a 150cc bubble car, which was in left in the garage when I took over the house and I could fit in very easily and I loved that car. Had the ration books been enforced, I would have been fine, 1 gallon would have lasted a month.

Maybe we will be going back to the future, or the future will be like the past.

It might not just be shortages for transport fuels, but also gas for generating electricity, so brown outs for one and all other than those that can generate their own electricity and be Off Grid and boil their kettle.

Yup, right now anything is possible with the way the Middle East is imploding and with Russia's war.

2 degrees C and not a breath of wind.  3 miles to the kW heading up into the glens.

4.1 miles to the kW coming back. Giving a 114 miles or so range from 100% and no AC on.

I changed the 12 Month fixed tariff today.

Offpeak just down 6.9 pence to 6.7 a kWh,  but the day tariff 5 pence a kWh lower, all helps.

(Gas a bit higher in the new year.)

Screenshot 2024-10-16 17.31.36.jpg

That's excellent unit rates. 6.7p beating Octopus at 7p and also having it for 7 hours.

Obviously different part of country so day rate and gas are difficult to compare. The off-peak rates are fixed by the energy supplier as headline numbers to attract customers.

Using Tesla for a few pence cheaper than the Council chargers just down the car park and without the often hassle of the chargers cutting out and charging a minimum £1 then when working being very slow.     Lovely day but cold.  Getting 3.7 miles to a kWh.   Next charge in 90 miles and on cheaper council chargers if working, but they can be busy.    A fast turn around of Tesla's charging.

First available CCS would not release charger.  Available next to the blue Tesla needs me to get right back to the charger to get cable into the MINI. Not as s close as I am though..  The Merc had a girl sitting in it and charging for over an hour. She never knew there is a £30 overstay after 60 minutes. 8am to 10pm.  Other cars have been on the AC,s for hours.

Ouch £30 plus the Lecky, should have had ICE (😉) as nobody has to take longer then minutes to top up tanks, just saying.

@Graham Butcher If you have a 80 kWh usable battery and choose to charge on a 50 kWh max charger putting out less than that then getting 60 kWh of charge can easily take 90 minutes or more.

27.2 kWh took me 42 minutes charge time,  that was charging to 93%.

Parked this way was the only way to get on the rapid. I could not start charging until the Audi cut out after 4 hours on that AC, then the rapid would start. Not locking and unlocking car as that has stopped the charger before now and I get charged a £5 minimum. Hopefully will get charged to 100% as needing all the range later.   If the Audi was not locked in I would have used the AC and paid 31 pence a kWh rather than 37 pence.   Waiting to see it does not stop at 80% as the AC has last few times

I take it the adjacent AC post was not suitable? I'm guessing 7kW rather than 11kw? Was the Buzz waiting for a charger or was that just for 'cool points'? 😎

Cool points.

ID Buzz all around these days and this is a busy place and through routes for such a poor number of Rapid Chargers and you have to go 20 miles or more up or down the a77 to get Ultra Rapids.

Actually 22kW so 11kW for me, but occasionally has been 7 giving only 3 6 per point. Unreliable.  So the AUdi has unlocked when I got back.  Blocking bay but I am going.  Place getting ready for Fire work display tomorrow.  I will not be surprised if the whole car park is not closed out of bounds and anyone needing charged is stuffed, as they did Gala time.       Seemingly new chargers getting installed here soon. Empty roads.

99 miles in 140 mins @ 3.6 miles a kWh showing. started with 109 miles showing an on the charger with 12 miles & 14% showing.

Rain all the way and misty, and needed AC on sometime to clear windscreen.  12*oC at 2am on west coast and down to 6*oC at the East Coast.

This is the lowest state of charge I have gone to. 3 miles showing, 5%.  I stayed in Sport and there was no reduction in power of heating disabled.  Warning at 16, then 12, 8 and at 4 the restricted range massage.

DSC_2245.JPG

This is the lowest I ever went when I had an Enyaq.

Timed to perfection as I parked up at home 😁

I am getting a charge at 45 kW which is fine. 4 degrees C just now. Started 55 miles ago with 106 miles range showing and 1 degree.  No AC on heating at 17 degrees C.    So 55 miles and used 66% battery, average speed 60 mph.   The 44% battery left was showing 40 miles range when I plugged in.   Not great really but I could have slowed a bit but I was going with the traffic in the outside lane, cars and vans, 70 mph average cameras. A few hundred yards of 50 mph at Laurencekirk.   2 more charges needed before home tonight. A cheap one further north and a PodPoint on my way south   Awkward to get charging at this Tesla Aberdeen and lucky to get this charger.

51pence a kWh, £8.80 to get to 98% and 95 miles indicated.  Expensive enough for 55 miles.   Edit. Down hill to the Harbour and at 100,% 105 miles after 4 miles.  Must just try to 97% next time.

Range showing 78 miles as I try to demist windscreen.   Should have turned on while still plugged in but not going far today.

I have only used the Auxiliary heater up to now while plugged in and charging. Trying now while just sitting parked. Seems to be not taking too much energy.  The heated seat stays nice and hot once off and stopped long enough really as long as not getting out of the seat.  It can not be on when stopped / parked and car turned off.
