Hello @mmt ,
Congratulations for your work.

Can you share with the community more details about the source of the new display?

1.Is it brand new, OEM, provided by Skoda as a spare part?

2.Is it from an old car, from a junkyard?

3. Please share a link/URL from that site.

Thank you

A used one, probably from totaled vehicle, with no specific info about the origin, hence the price. I have found it on site called 'srotas' It looks like some kind of second hand parts concentrator with its own distribution over europe. Not the most legit looking site in my opinion, but the display came like described.

Hello, I removed the connection cable socket of the multimedia sound touch bar. I only control the sound from the steering wheel.

Brilliant work. But quite frankly, this shouldn’t be happening. Mine has been in a full infotainment system replacement, then for gear selector lever replacement, then SOS button repair. Whilst in for SOS button repair they say there’s a campaign for the selector lever issue. Shame, already had that issue. Today, less than 10mi into my journey home and a whole world of hassle, SOS button fails again. Shocking from Skoda really with these issues. Amongst all these problems I’ve had a washer pump fail and the front suspension rear bushes are on their way out. Problems galore, very disappointing from what would otherwise be a brilliant vehicle.

Check with your local Skoda dealer for the selector leaver campaign so you don’t have the same misfortune on that as I had!

Hi,

Does anyone what the magic words you need to say to get the dealer to replace the display unit??

I'm having no luck and have started a formal complaint with Skoda Australia about the dealer refusing to replace the faulty display unit under warranty.

Can you still use the "power on" button next to the volume touch bar if you disconnect that cable? Or is there another way of turning it on and off?

When removing the specified film cable, the vehicle ignition must be on and the multimedia system must be running. From now on, the multimedia system will remain running every time the ignition is turned on.

Hm, not sure if I want to go that way, what if for "some obscure Skoda reason" it turns off the infotainment system and I need to start it again fysically... I'm not going to open up my car myself.

I was thinking about asking the dealer to either do this for me, or replace the unit to version H49 which also seems to resolve this issue (but is probably very costly?). Car has already been in for a full day for a software update and it doesn't resolve this damn issue.

1300 unit, few hours of work, tax. Count 1700+.

I finally got mine replaced under warranty 2 weeks ago. I had to kick off and email Skoda Australia to complain about the dealer not replacing it under warranty.

Surprisingly they ordered the part straight away once Skoda Aus got in touch with them.

Obviously assuming this sorted the issue ........

Nice simple fix, well done.

I can understand folk not wanting to mess with their vehicle, and they shouldn't have to either .......

...... but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and sort the 5h1t yourself, or get a mate to do it.

Shame on Skoda not sorting these issues out.

Yeah, real shame of Skoda. Other than that ****, it's just a great car.

I might go for the workaround solution myself, if I can find a video of some sort on how to remove those the interior parts. I'm just not a handy man, so I'm afraid to break something.

I've never done anything like this before. Using the plastic separator handles, it came out easily when I lifted it from one end. You can do it too.

Hello,

I have this problem on mine.

RS from 01/2021, H44 screen.

I dont want to spend 1500 euros for a new one.

The H47 are also bull**** and the H49 are to rare.

So i opened my screen and disconnected this ****ing scroll bar.

The ON/OFF is not needed (if i need to put it off, i remove the fuse) and i can up/down the volume on my steering wheel.

No more problem !

Sense its vital for the multimedia to start with the car so if you have the restarts each 10 sec which is undrivable at this point

You need to take out the fuse which shut down the screen and volume turn on off bar but not the multimedia my Bluetooth is still connected with music with the fuse out do the disconnecting the cable then reconnect the fuse and check if the bar stop working right ? Cus my **** restarts every 10 sec its hard to do it properly with the fuse on @Valentin

I have now been driving for four weeks after I cleaned the inside of the touchbar and have not had any issue with the volume turning up by it self.

Take it apart and carefully clean it with isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry and put it back together.

Bravo; how will this sound bar be disassembled? Can you share a video or picture?

Ok, it's driving me nuts and my dealership is not willing to just disconnect the cable for me as a workaround. they can replace the infotainment unit which will cost me 1300€ without man hours. That's not happening.

I will try and open it up myself. Tell me, what do you mean with the above statement? Do I need to make sure to have the infotainment turned on when disconnecting that flat cable? Or do I also have to have the engine running?

Let the multimedia be open 👍

Can someone help me out which screws need to be opened to see them? And can I disconnect those 2 cables to do this outside my car?
