Hmm okay, dont know if the manufacturer has done any modofications to the idle engine and the spec for it to have higher RPM. It would be good to compare 1.5TSI from year 2018 (i.e after facelift)

nickytheshaft's profile states a VRS

Maybe the 1.5 Lacks torque for the ac and therefore has to rev higher to manage the compressor

Apples, Pears & Oranges, all fruits.

Here just totally different engines from different eras, Euro 5 then Euro 6 Emissions, then Euro 6 & WLTP / RDE2.

They are not running test cars with AC on.  They just have stuff operating differently, engine management and battery charging and regeneration of batteries.

Exactly. I'm surprised this topic has generated 3 pages. Nobody with a 1.5 has contributed, so the OP hasn't got his answer yet.

Thats correct. Simple question for 1.5TSI owners. Whats your RPM in cold start, with and without heater fan active?

You are right. But I seek to know idle RPM for 1.5TSI engine. And that engine is Euro 6 per default.

AC off and most other stuff under 900 rpm within 1 minute, around 850 maybe.

?

Why does it matter?

AC , lights on, anything on will depend on what the car is happy at with the load on the battery.

Different ambient temps, humidity, air filter clean or not so clean, state of spark plugs etc etc. How much above sea level. Location, Climate ...

It does matter, too high idle RPM generates unnecessary vibrations to the cabin and environmental **** that could make the car fail at inspection.

With AC heater fan OFF my car idles at 750-800RPM. With AC heater fan ON, 1000RPM.

I find 1000RPM to high, but maybe its OK. Just wondering because a VW Golf with similar engine idles lower.

What inspection?

@Mastercard   Is this the case with your car, is it generating unnecessary vibration etc etc?

Does the Golf have a 'Similar engine'  or an identical 1.5 TSI ACT with GPF & DSG from 2020?

As it is the TSI,s 1.4 or 1.5 TSI with or without ACT or GPF but a DSG behave pretty much the same on idle, and with AC on.

Then in D sitting or if you sit with it in S where you might try that and see / hear the increase in the RPM.

Inspection every second year (Sweden). Where mechanical parts are inspected and emissions measured, i.e motor vehicle inspection.

This exist for all countries in EU. Since the UK has existed, I dont know the rules for you.

Pretty shure I have the ACT system, "eco" symbol shown in the dash when driving.

I will double check by removing the engine cover and check ignition coils.

I feel like it does. I can hear that the engine is on. due to sound and vibrations.

I own a 1.5TSI ACT DSG Golf 7.5, year 2020. In D and S, the RPM is 750RPM does not matter if AC heater is ON or OFF, still the same RPM.

Feels like the engine isnt even on sometimes, really quite and seamless.

Ok. Didn't know you were in Sweden. We have something similar. Cars here inspected after 3 years from registration and then every year after that.

Your Octavia 1.5 TSI will be an ACT as that is how they come, Skoda do not have 1.5 TSI non ACT.

It seems to behave as expected.

It is your Golf that seems to not behave as expected or as any i have driven do.

Yes, same in Sweden but we have every second year after 3 years.

I have not had any issues with my Golf. I know that the VW cars in generall have more sound insulation, but the vibrations in my Octavia when idle, comes from the "higher" RPM. But seems to be OK.

Do you have a 1.5tsi Octavia?

I have an 2020 Octavia 1.5 TSI with 103k miles. The idle is awful. Noisy as hell and vibrates inside the cab. But this is normal apparently and the car does drive smoothly enough. It's taxi so it's beginning to really annoy me though to the extent the car needs replaced.

My current 2019 Ocatvia 1,5tsi act is not noisy at anytime, neither was my previous 1.5tsi within normal running conditions. My current wagon has covered 62k, uses no oil so far & runs very smoothly, as most 4 cylinder engines, do.

My previous 1.5tsi ran slightly lumpy for a while, slowly became worse, as two of the four plugs were breaking down, once replaced, 100% resolved it. Coilpacks would also make the car run a bit lumpy, too. There were no fault codes initially, until the cold starting became effected.

I've found the 1.5tsi to generally run a lot smoother than the 1.0tsi I once owned, too. That being a 3 cylinder engine.

Guys, today something happend. My idle behaved exactly as my Golf 1.5TSI.

I started the engine, idle RPM went up to 1000. Then dropped down to 750 RPM, with AC heater ON!!

Could not hear the engine running at all, love it. I will inspect this tomorrow again. If it behaves the same, then maybe it has sorted itself out.

I will feedback you tomorrow.

Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about!

This has got me thinking, I really need to video my engine running.

That way when I take it to the garage saying "My engine is making a funny noise." I'll be able to give them a normal baseline for comparison.

You think that sounds normal?😀
