Keyless Entry

Featured Replies

Anybody in here that knows why my Skoda Octavia from late 2020, only works sometimes with the keyless entry?

Sometimes when i go up to the car, it doesnt unlock.

Not even when grabbing the handle so i have to get my keys out and press unlock?

Only works around half the time?

Its a Skoda Octavia IV

Try a new battery in the key fob 1st. Whatever that battery is. It's a lithium disc one.

It happens a lot to me, too. It is unrelated to the battery, since it has been working like this from the start, and I have also replaced the battery recently. I think having phone and keys in the same pocket interferes with the functionality but it happens sometimes also when I don't have the phone in my pocket.

Another "feature" that I don't understand is that sometimes when I press unlock on the fob, only trunk and back doors get unlocked. Both driver and passenger door remain locked until I press unlock again.

Sounds like something is wrong with the car / module if that’s the case. My understanding was the option was either drivers door only or all the doors.

not opening the fronts at all is just wrong!

It is a knack to it, not necessarily a fault.

Dont grab the handle to unlock the car as you are touching the lock and unlock sensors together.

Instead just put your hand on the inside face of the door handle and pull the door handle to open, dont touch the outside face of the handle.

To lock, shut the door and just touch the dimple on the outside of the door handle.

There will be updates available to fix the KESSY, it had known issues with the early builds

I didnt explain my self good enough, my bad.

I always do that, never grabbing just "pushing"

Do the octavia’s auto unlock as you approach and auto lock when you walk away like the Dacias?

You can set it to do it, although if you're cleaning the car it keeps locking & unlocking like mad unless you leave the key a short distance away, I'm going to turn it off.

I have seen the option that it unlocks as i approach the car but as thewanderar mentioned it can be pretty annoying as if you lock the car and pass by it it unlocks and you have to lock again but i havent seen the option to lock as you go away. i have to explore more i think.

I think you will find if it unlocks as you approach or touch the handle, and you don't open the door it will lock its self, idea being if

you accidently press the unlock button while in your pocket (as such) and you did not know you had done it it will lock its self

I can confirm that it does re-lock itself after about 60-90s, but if you happen to walk/pass by your car on a shopping street, it'll detect the key and be open for 60-90s, which is more than ample for some thieving scumbag to open the car, raid it and foxtrot oscar with your property and they're not going to close the door(s) again either.

It's a feature which is fine if you live in the sticks or in a salubrious, well to do area where crime is low, but it's a feature that should be turned off in most towns and cities without fail.

There is an option to unlock on approach, so you get within 1 metre of it, it unlocks the doors.

It was going bonkers yesterday as I was going around the car cleaning the glass with white vinegar, it must of locked and unlocked itself 6 or 8 times. I deactivated it, this afternoon when I checked the oil, washer bottle and tyres.

If you are doing jobs on the car like washing, checking oils etc, let it unlock and then open the door and it won't lock and unlock

I think that might only be on VRS or recent models - no menu setting for it on my 2020 build SEL First Edition ☹️

Have a look in the vehicle menu and then it's the one which shows a big picture of the car with interior or exterior options on it.

That's where I found it, I've switched it off for the time being it was irritating me more than J.R & SC03OTT combined with thrush.

Thanks, but that’s where looked…

Not the only thing ‘missing’ on the early builds, they don’t have lock/unlock through the app (not sure I’d use that feature anyway).

I don't use it all the time (probably twice this year so far) but sooo handy if you're out shopping and your wife gets back to the car first. Saves her carrying keys !
