as @Gaz said or one of the many suspension creaks that emerge. Pop it into a local specialist, or your local dealer, will be greased bearings, broken bits or a 'feature' mine does it and I get the bearings etc re-greased, or something they do something it stops, til it comes back. However it's not just one direction, it's both, or over bumps etc.

If I were younger I'd be whipping the wheels off, armed with silicone spray can and some penetrating oil and having a good look at the suspension.

As it is now, I just ignore the creaks and squeaks at low speed on my Superb, maybe its a "Simply clever" feature to warn wildlife to get out of the way.

I had what seems to be this exact problem.  Mine was eventually solved when it went for an MOT and they said they said the ball joint was worn.  Replaced that and the problem was gone.  About a year later it started again so I booked it in for the other ball joint replacing but due to an admin error on the paperwork the garage weren't sure which they had initially replaced.  They replaced both to be sure and again the problem was gone.

Mine was a very loud creaking at low speed and happened whether I was turning the steering wheel slightly or even when I was setting off in a traffic jam.  Sometimes it would even do it if I was parked on the drive and just turned the steering wheel very slightly from one side to the other.
