@RaysWheels re number 3 on your list, I have a Tuning-Art stainless steel boot bumper protector, and would recommend them (mine isn't in an Octavia)

Nice, thanks for this.

I was thinking I may just go for something like this

Right, so I collected the car 2 weeks ago today. The first drive was around 330 miles, 7hrs none stop (still have that iron bladder haha)..

Not had time to do anything with the car yet. Maybe next month!

I have the 1.4TSI IV and to charge from home via the granny charger it draws 2.48 kwh from the plug and from empty takes around 3hr20 mins ish to full. It will only take a max of 3.6kwh from the various charging points with the direct cable so this then takes it approx 3 ish hrs. At home it costs around £2.86 to charge it from empty and that gives around 39-42 miles.

Just don't use a normal extension lead as they get very very warm. You can get purpose built one for around 40 quid which is a higher rated cable / socket/ plug / inline circuit protector which plugs in you home socket.

IMO it really should have a bigger battery, more like a 15/18kwh but hey ho it saves me loads on company car tax...

VW group have announced several PHEVs with better charging (50kW on fast chargers, and I think at least 7kW charge at home) and they all do indeed have bigger batteries for which they claim at least 62 miles (100km) in range. This includes Superb, Kodiaq, Golf, Cupra Leon etc.
But no word yet on whether they will put that system in an Octavia - I think it would make sense if they did though.

39-42 miles is very impressive. I get 30… 31max. Never seen it above 31.

Apologies, hijacking my own thread, tried searching but can’t work out how to just search with the  Octavia IV section.

Anyway, stupid question i guess… however my better half is insisting that I should only part charge to help protect the battery system!? I lm assuming full charge is fine

im going to plug it in this afternoon (just to an outside socket that I had fitted to use for vac and power washer) so any clarification here appreciated.

I use the granny charger and it conditions the charge  to the battery, and skoda say its OK to fully charge.  It does say to fully charge from 0 mainly so the battery is conditioned correctly.  I charge mine twice a week.

Ok, confused.com, pulled the manual out (digital copy here https://digital-manual.skoda-auto.com/w/en_GB/show/76651911afececc1ac1445253ccacadc_2_en_GB?ct=76651911afececc1ac1445253ccacadc_2_en_GB )

it refers to 80% for day to day, but I can’t see where to set it so that it does not charge past this.

I do see reference to timed departure, here up to 100% and making sure setting off as soon as possible thereafter.

i plugged it in anyway, dashboard says 5.40 to charge, assume my wall outlet can’t provide the juice so it’s switched to protected mode. Think I’ll just unplug it after 3hrs.

guess having the app would make sense, but I can’t do that until I have both car keys. So it will be next weekend before I can explore further.

Not sure why you can't get the same charge rate as I do as I'm only using the socket in the kitchen @ 13 amps..

The MK IV (4) Besides the enhanced petrol engines, which can be equipped with mild hybrid technology (mHEV) and new-generation Evo diesel engines, there is also a compressed natural gas (CNG) drive. The all-new OCTAVIA is even available as a plug-in hybrid. And yes, don’t worry, RS and SCOUT derivatives will be launched, too.

https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/models/octavia/the-all-new-skoda-octavia-has-arrived/

There is no dedicated section for the Octavia IV (phev/mhev) Cars was what i meant.

Ok so at HQ this last week, travelled by train, anyway collected the 2nd car key and now that I’m back home have just spent the last hr setting myself up as the primary owner, registering the Skoda app inc the 1 month free trials for the various features…

Yet to discover whether I’m best using Laura, Google or Siri when on the road!

Hey hi time will tell I guess.

Hello @RaysWheels,

What polarised lens have you ordered? From what I can see there are 3 options available on the above site, but there is no information/details about them.
What is the big difference between CPL-3345, CPL-3869 and CPL-3390?

Thank you

  • Author

Whoops in my rush I missed there being a choice of  three, reading now for us it’s either 3345 or 3390.

Looking back at my order it seems I went with 3345.. wonder if it is down to which camera you go for, I went with the cheaper 1440P.

I'm pretty sure this has been asked and answered before, and that it's for the factory to check the boot is watertight.

Anyone got a recommendation for puddle light to fit?

Any idea why they are the 1.4 engine? Is this the same as the older one? Or a revised engine like the 1.5? Maybe emissions with it being hybrid doesn't effect it as much.

Sorry absolutely no idea, never put much research in before buying.
