DSG remap - TVS drivability map on a stock 220

Featured Replies

I have a 2.0 petrol 220 with the DQ250 6 speed dsg gearbox.  I have read about the TVS gearbox remap and am interested I think in the "drivability" map.  Has anyone had this done and did it make the car more pleasant to drive.

I would like sport mode to be a little less aggressive and D mode to hold on to the gears just that little bit longer.  Was wondering if anyone has had this map or something similar.

This is for a standard car and probably not planning on any other modifications in the near future bar this.

Would also be good to hear from anyone that's had any kind of dsg remap to find out

1. How much difference it makes

2. Exactly what you had changed

I've heard good things about the TVS software.  People definitely don't seem to regret it afterwards.  I have have a pedal box fitted to 2 cars now and believe that solves 80% of the issues.  Just makes the car more eager to be in the correct gear.  Doesn't solve the sport mode issue of holding the gears but makes it more driveable.

I don't know about the TVS tune, but I have the APR TCU (DSG) Tune on my 220, which is paired with an APR Stg 1 ECU Hi-torque tune.

The TCU tune has certainly made the transmission better, especially in terms of making Sports mode useable.

Before the tune, whenever I put the car Sport, I would shift the lever to Manual shifting cause I hated how it would hold the gears far too long.

After the tune, it's much much better and less insane.  I don't need to do Manual shifting anymore in Sports mode.

A pedal box or throttle controller won't make it any better as it will still rev too high and hold gears too long.

I would however recommend it for much much better throttle response.

It awakens the car and makes it feel less responsive.

I had the car dyno'ed last year.

The DSG tune helped in getting more power out.

These were the figures at the wheels - 223kw / 533 Nm

Did 3 runs, each run was the same power.

Top end it runs out of puff cause of the high intake air temps.  I've since got an IE intercooler fitted - need to do another Dyno run.

I had TVS stage 3 and works well with the DQ250, the smoothest TCU tune I've experienced as now I'm running a custom tuner software which is very good however I would the TVS was slightly better.

As Awesam has said, the tvs stage 3 tune on the dq250 is fantastic. You can't 'feel' any gear change. You can only hear it. Epic.

Thanks all, so it seems like it would be a worthwhile improvement then,  I will have to look into the different stages to figure out what would work best for me, but I am thinking for a standard car just drivability is what I am looking for

Just saying.....the APR TCU DQ250 tune is smooth as well 🙂

I will into that one as well thanks 👍🏻

Yes just yes to the TVs stage2+ dsg map..

I’ve have the ecu and tic done by them.
it’s very smooth and lightning quick changes when in all modes but especially in sport. Just spend the money and go for it. I’m running a 272 with 380bhp 560nm.
all the modes are enhanced and the life extender and drivability stuff is world class
