Tell me about your fabia 1.0 litre as my sister is interested in buying one.

Featured Replies

I have told my sister who wants to get a newer car that the Fabia would be a sensible buy used.

I mentioned that the one litre would possibly be ok, she lives in a city but also drives on the motorway for work.

I would like to know if the one litre engine has a wet timing belt, I know someone who has a Ford fiesta that suffered a bust engine apparently due to the belt in oil degrading well before time stated for belt change (Ford not interested).

Any thing to look out for in the model up to 2021.

I always recommend going for the more powerful version if made  the same as the latest Fabia.

 Thanks in advance

Martin.

Four 1 litre engines are fitted to the 2015-2021 Fabia III:-

1.0 MPI 60 PS.   1.0 MPI  75 PS.    1.0 TSI 95PS  & 1.0TSI 110 PS

Thanks. AG Falco

The two turbo engines are good. The 110ps is surprisingly quick, the 95 is more sedate but isn't a complete slouch. Perfect for tootling about in the town and in the country.

+1 for the 110, not as silky smooth as the 1.4 but a very willing engine. The 6-speed box on the manual version is a bonus.

@Ootohere - As from my profile, my TSI Octavia.

OK.  Yes a 4 cylinder might well be smother than a 3 cylinder. But they stopped doing them in the Mk3 when the 1.2 TSI went..

Back to 4 cylinder as an option in the Mk4 with a 1.5 TSI ACT.

OP was asking about 1.0 TSI.

@Warrior193 Which is a 3 cylinder 1.0 TSI with a GPF since 2018.

I'm happy with my 2019 110PS SEL. Its got the 6 speed box, great on a long motorway runs.
Good on fuel, can be pretty quick if you what it to be.
I came from a 1.8T VW Bora before these Fabias (i had a mk2 1.2 / 4 cylinder before the mk3)
Didn't miss the grunt of the 1.8T at all with either car. For me wouldn't buy anything other than the 110PS version though.
Only thing you will have to work the gearbox harder in some situations as its a smaller engine, but i think that's the same whatever brand you buy of this engine size.
Its good to give the engine a workout anyway.
Infotainment system is good, listen to so much music in the car now as its all on a USB thumb drive.
Only downside is the tax on the new one, i went from £30 to £200 with the new one. The robbing bastards.
