Skoda 2020 gear control issue when parking sensors activated

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum. Recently I purchased a used Skoda Karoq 2020 model petrol 1.5 TSI. It's running smoothly until I have experienced issues while trying to move out after parking the car.

The situation is, when I forward park the car and the front parking sensors gets activated, I turned off the ignition and changed the gear to neutral. Issue is when I turned on the ignition and tried to move reverse, front parking sensor is still active and car moves in front (towards the bushes/ wall) . I checked if I put the wrong gear, but I put the correct reverse gear. Still the car moves front. I turned off ignition couple of times, still no correction. Then, I turned off the auto parking button and auto hold functions. Then, I was able to move safely out reverse.

It's very annoying and my car keeps pushing towards the wall or bushes and I can't do anything. I have noticed this while parking reverse as well.

I hope you understand what I wanted to say. Thanks for your patience. Please drop a reply if you know about this issue. Much appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest selecting Neutral if manual or Park if DSG, and  applying the handbrake BEFORE switching off the ignition.

Thanks @thamestrader for your comment. Sorry, I think I missed to mention it's a Manual Transmission. I agree with you, that's the correct way of doing it.

But, my feeling is, Is there any chance that  parking sensors causing issues with the transmission system/manual gear shifting? If I notice the same problem again, I will try to record it.
Also, another option could be to disable the parking assists to prevent this problem, if you agree. Thanks a lot. Cheers.
