Headlight warning

Featured Replies

Hi all

I got this bizarre warning ⚠️ coming home from a function early morning  regarding the headlights "Fault: Vehicle lighting"  headlights look like they were functioning properly,  couldn't see any issues.  Turned off the car let it sit for a bit and when I restarted, the message wasn't there any more. Will continue to monitor.  Maybe just a glitch.  Anyone have warning this before?

I've had it twice recently, occurring about 4 weeks apart. Same result, no actual faults, message disappears on restarting. I'm putting it down to a glitch. BTW, that warning is intended to indicate a fault with any of the lighting not just headlights, check all the lighting to be certain. I've had a similar 'false' message concerning lighting on another car in the past (not a Skoda).

Ok, noted, thanks for the response and advice / feedback. I'll check other lighting as well. See if I can detect anything. Otherwise hopefully it was just a one off.

I've had the exact same issue last night. Warning message with nothing not working. Cleared on restart of car.

Also had this fault, noticed at the same time the light switch ‘auto’ was no longer lit up and we had an error on the app. Dipped beam and sidelights were just stuck ‘on’ cleared after an hour or so switched off. IMG_4531.thumb.png.0ea3ce2bc1b24311198873b350d7fd4f.png

Starting to think this is a new bug from one of the recent updates 😅

We’re on software 1940 when this happened. Car is currently in at a dealer for an AC issue. I mentioned the fault and they said although 1941 doesn’t apply to our model technical have advised to update to it (which is interesting as others on here are applying 1969 themselves)

Just had a similar situation whilst driving, warning popped up saying 'Check nearside daytime running light/sidelights'. Got home and checked and everything was working fine. Tried turning from auto to manual lighting which made no difference but a 2nd error appeared saying to check the right side lights too. Again, everything appears to be working fine? Just switched it off now and going to wait an hour to see if that clears the error as others have found. Bit annoying as I only bought it as a Skoda Approved Used car a month ago and it's been fine up till now. Hoping that I don't have to book it in just to have the error codes removed. I've got an OBDII reader and was half tempted to plug it in and see if I could clear them myself but I don't want to risk voiding the warranty.

Just saw this. How did you go? I gather it didn't appear again. It really is quiet strange just have to make sure all lights are functioning correctly i guess. Mine were fine from what I could see. It hasn't come up again.  Maybe Just a glitch. I'm with you I wouldn't want to void my warranty as well.

Went out and hour later and started engine fine, no error messages and nothing shown up since. All lights still functioning correctly. It's like driving a bloomin' PC, if you get a problem first try turning it off, waiting a bit and 'rebooting' the car 🙄

Modern cars have a huge number of embedded "PCs" in them, often 30 or more! - so it should be no surprise that they often behave like PCs.

Snap. All lighting functional and no warning on the next start. I did have a recent update of something but.. they never say what they're doing.

Sorry for the daft question, I've never had a car this new before, how do you know when they've done an OTA update, do you just have to look at the software version on the infotainment system or is there an obvious message displayed somewhere?

Had this error last night. No issue with lights then disappeared on next startup. Strange!

My car has done this a few times April 24 model on the latest software . A restart resets it. Maybe cranking voltage drop causes it? My car does suffer from low cranking voltage at times. My battery tests ok.

I've had a similar warning three times on my pre-FL 2024 Octy. Reset after ignition off/on.

Also had it for a couple of days in a row and then it just left, I checked the lights at the time and they were grand.

I even had Skoda call me to say the car is reporting a problem and do I want to bring it to a dealer.

I am having the same issue except it doesnt go away on restart. I am having these codes on my obd11

Exactly what ours did, only way I fixed it was battery disconnect and leave it for half hour. Reconnect and take it for a drive to clear down errors like abs/esp etc that come on after a disconnect and it then has only happened once since but fault cleared on next startup

I finally changed tha battery and it works perfectly. Thanks a lot !
