Variable servicing can't be set ?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I had come across this before on one of my other VAG cars, where the official dealer said they could not reset the service intervals to variable from fixed on it first service. I assumed it was them not wanting to as it is less business.

However we had the Wifes Scala serviced (23 plate 10k miles) at a well regarded VAG independent, and I had requested that the service be changed to variable. They said they had tried but the car wouldn't accept it.

Is this a common thing now, manufacturers blocking this change to make more in servicing ? or am I being fobbed off ?

Who told you that, someone at the service desk or the actual Master Tech or Technician?

Liars really.

The car came from the factory set for Variable/ flexible servicing and was changed to FIXED service at the PDI.

It can be reset to Variable / Flexible servicing.

Do you know if the car has an oil level/temperature sensor in the sump? If that's not there, I think you wouldn't be able to set it to variable.  I could check with VIN or reg plate number if you're not sure.

Only the Skoda Citigo has come to the UK in over a decade without Variable Servicing / Oil & Filter service intervals being available.

The cars are delivered from the factory set to Variable / Flexible Servicing intervals.

They have to be reset to Fixed Servicing as oft happens without the new keeper being asked.

PHEV,s are supposed to be on a Fixed OIl Service Regime according to VW Group and these can be set / reset, for Variable / Flexible Servicing Regimes.

Perhaps they've gone back to it with the Scala?

Looking forward to hearing the Facts / Truth on the matter.

Or the alternative truth from 'The well regarded VAG Independent'.

See Breezy-Pete's comment quoted above. You won't be able to set variable service without an oil level/temp sensor! Clear?

@Mr Grump  Just so we know, what is it, a 1.0 or 1.5 TSI ACT with a GPF.?

a 2023 car. with a Q16 code.

It comes to the UK set for Variable Service Intervals. At the change from In Transit or at a PDI it is changed to Fixed if they are going to change the Service Regime.

@OotohereIts a 1.5 TSi ACT, no idea if its GPF or not.

I will have a look in the boot when the wife gets home and see if I can find that label.

@Paws4ThotYes perfectly clear, just that I don't know how to determine if it has sensors.

In my post about oil level/temperature sensor I did offer to look up whether you had it if you weren't sure.

I still can, via reg plate or VIN, but I think Ootohere is probably correct that it will have.

It has a GPF.

Recommended oil by VW Group / Skoda, VW508 00 / 509 00  0w 20 FS IV.  (Long life)

@Breezy_Pete PM sent :)

Can not see a label in the boot (probably under the spare, which I didn't want to move ATM) ! Nothing attatched in the instruction book either.

I think they stopped supplying stickers with car details about 5 or 6 years back.

Will read/reply to your message shortly. Just sat down to eat.

Oil level sensor and QI6 servicing code at delivery both confirmed.
