Apologies in advance for a long post / read but hoping to get some assistance before going back to the dealer (under warranty).

 

I have had issues pretty much from when I got the car, especially with Android Auto not displaying properly. However, got much worse recently and like a lot of threads on here, doesn't seem to be a consistent cause or fix - I have kept a log of errors but got fed up with the restart or disconnect ones as they were happening every couple of days. I did take it to the dealer earlier this year (8th October) with front parking sensor error (replaced under warranty) and asked them to look at the audio / media unit. I paid £195 for the privilege of the mechanic spending time (and failing) to find any information about SW1969 which according to him (and he spoke to Skoda Master Technician) didn't exist...despite the fact that other dealers were updating to it.

 

For me, using Android Auto is essential as I drive to lots of different places and rely on it for (a) navigation and (b) playing podcasts / music so having a reliable unit is pretty important. And of course, you either need the screen on or have the magic touch to turn off the stupid car sounds !

 

Anyway, I want to try and get this resolved whilst still in warranty so will be discussing with dealer in January - I have held off updating to SW1985 as I think I have a hardware not software issue but don't want the 'we don't recognise that SW version' discussion.

 

Questions;

1. In my notes, I have recorded TPI 2067494/3 (no sound from head unit) but can't find a copy of that online to reference. Is it worth registering & paying for erwin access to download these or can you only see what Skoda have assigned against your VIN
2. Is anyone aware of any other TPIs that could affect audio / media unit
3. Does anyone have any further suggestions / tests to do to try and identify or isolate the issue(s)

Have you tried a factory reset of the media centre?

No - will give that a go this morning.

I've had issues after updates of the software and a factory reset fixes it.

 

Some reason my car does not like being updated without resetting everything after. Think I have same hardware versions etc as yours.

 

You will need both keys to become primary user again as part of the reset

Factory reset done and already had the issue of Android Auto displaying media as blank ! Will give it a few days to see if the other issues re-occur.

You using AA as wireless or plugged in via USB? Do you get same issue if cabled?

Tried both wired & wireless - I tend to do wireless for short trips & wired for longer trips (as AA kills your battery).

Quick update - hadn't been driving much over the Christmas break but yesterday got the PDC error as well as screen on with no sound. After car sitting for an hour, both errors cleared and worked as expected.

 

Time for a discussion with the dealer that I'm not looking forward to.

Has it not auto updated to version 1985 yet? I was on the same versions as you and it did it automatically...

Not updated yet and reluctant to do it manually in case my local dealer isn't aware that it exists. As I said previously, I think I have a hardware fault with the unit rather than just just software as as well as the issue list above, the unit constantly (1-3 times per 'long' trip) simply disconnects from my phone - not sure if this is a restart as connects quickly.

 

FYI - yesterday had the screen not on but audio playing issue. Screen came on after 6 minutes.
