Adblue filling

Featured Replies

Adblue light comes on every month now. Reading reports about overfilling I'm cautious when adding more.

What level constitutes too much? I can see the adblue level when shining a torch down the filler neck. It looks about 1" below the bottom of the filler neck.

I've seen comments saying "I just added it until it was just below the filler"

Is that the full height including the neck? That surely is to much! It looks to me as though my tank is nearly full.

The sequence to turn off the AdBlue warning never works, I add AdBlue then it goes off about 3-4 days later, for a month!

I'm beginning to think the problem is a NOX sensor.

I don't have the AdBlue fill level on my MFD

I read on a previous VWG forum that if it's overfilled, the nox sensor gets wonky and it can need recalibrating with vcds.

I just have the Carista dongle and app which gives you the tank level but I think thats all. Might be a clue though.

Well I know that if it's overfilled the level sensor can go wrong. Not sure how, but with no real way of knowing how much to put in it's all a bit of a lottery.

If you use the VAG adblue filler hose (optional extra accessory purchase,) then it cuts off when the tank is at the correct level, typical you need to pay VAG to do something that should be simple 🙃

Filled last night half way up the filler tube. Light still on, I'll drive around for a few days to see if it goes off.

Time for the AdBlue software hack to get rid of this nonsense!

I bought a hose dispenser for my Yeti which stopped when the correct level was reached.

I can also remember a smaller quantity ad blue bottle that came with a rigid spout that

cut off when the correct level was reached. Have you tried either option.

As above, and I just used a big ad blue and small ad blue bottle to put in the amount in it told me to.

Light is still on 😡

Just used the Ad-Blue bottle to fill up with.

Easy job with the special bottle.

I cut the bottom off mine so I could fill it out of a big 20 litre bottle.
Did that for 5 years with no problems

There's obviously a problem somewhere. Either fill level sensor or something else. Thae car doesn't know the fill level. And yes I do go through the sequence after a fill.

If I put much more in it'll overflow.

I've tried with the level just below the fill tube and half way up the fill tube. Light stays on, goes off around 4 days later only to come on again 4 weeks after that with barely any AdBlue used.

This doesn't fix the level issue being experienced, but I did mine today.

'Range 1500m - add AdBlue'

'min fill 1.25gal to 1.25gal'. x 4.54 = 5.7litres

I put a plastic funnel in, emptied a 5l container in and then added a dribble more for the extra 0.7 litre

'Range 4500m'

Where I was coming from is that if it tells me to add 5.7 litres with 1500 to go (I think you get that warning?) , you should be pretty safe to do the same, as you have the same engine ?

Problem solved. I've had the AdBlue deleted. At the time diagnostics said AdBlue pump faults.
