does this help at all? (from elsewhere on Briskoda)

Also, in your Navigation menu do you have a function key in the form of a small rectangular oblong screen with something like an eye superimposed over its lower left corner? Pressing that function key seems to open the door to the extra window split screen.

Sorry that I'm having to do this from my own download but the original car and manual have moved on and copy/paste disables all the manual's icons and other characters

A little progress, measured 12v on both the Black and blue Fakra connectors under the antenna, If you undo the screws on the rear center set belt attachment, there

is enough view though that and with the back of the headliner released to see what you are doing.

So removed the antenna , and up to my workshop with it

removed the 6 torx screws and the sat nav is a separate module, no sign of any corrosion.

Next lift the sat nav module and look under neath, first device looks like either a GaAsFet or bipolar which feeds a saw filter then to an IC which again no locatable in house code .Looking under a microscope, There is a fair bit of green dendrite growth on all the device legs, I cant find the in house device codes fro the devices., looks like condensation damage.

So I've ordered a couple of sat nav modules off ebay at £6.99 each, which I will take apart to get the pcb module and fix that inside the antenna assembly

The 2 sat nav antennas ,ebay, arrived today opened up the plastic outer cover, they are only push fit

As I measured 12v on the blue Fakra connector , I carefully soldered a LM878L05 regulator on the pcb, discarded the long coax with a Female Fakra connector as the Skoda one is male, so just soldered the original lead on the pcb. the metal cover is only soldered on two corners easy to remove

Plugged it in on the car , and a correct GPS position. :)

Measured the DC voltage at the connector with board connected and it was 4v, NO need to fit a 5v regulator as the supply to the antenna is current limited, so used the second board without any supply regulation, and functional.

The ebay boards are to big to fit in the cast housing so glued the new board in., I will try and repair the original board, as there is NO filtering on the ebay sat nav antennas.

So will be useless in high RF fields . They are cheap , but its a fix coating less than 10 quid

Has anyone bought one of these?

I need to do something about ours - the sat nav has been telling me I'm in the sea for a long time, and having just removed the unit from the car and taken it apart there is corrosion on the circuit boards.

I've been using a TomTom, so getting the sat nav back isn't a major issue, but when I undid the 6 screws holding the underside plate to the upper plastic I found 3 of them were no longer doing anything as the screw hole turrets had broken off. I doubt it won't will be long before it all falls apart and there will be water ingress etc.

That looks like a good replacement, not a bad price either

good luck

Richard

The AliExpress one I've linked to above arrived within a week from China. I fitted it today and now have sat nav again.😀

A couple of issues encountered;

1 - the leads were shorter than on the original one. To overcome this I had to free the cables from the 2 clips holding them to the body. This was straightforward with the one behind the plastic internal trim panel on the passenger side of the car by the tailgate (you have to remove it to get between the headlining and roof). The other cable clip is on the roof and not easy to pull out. You have to grasp the cables either side of the clip and push the cables away from the roof to get it released, taking care to not damage the headlining.

2 - the cables (4 - only needed 3 as GSM not installed on my car) only have 1 cable which has a connector matching the colour of the car's connectors. Not a big issue as the cables are labelled with what they are for.

So for £24 - half the cost of a used one on eBay (which because of their age is likely to be well on it's way to failing) - I've got a new one, which from a dealer would be around £200!
