Vag dpf app

Featured Replies

Morning. I've just downloaded this app and just wondering if anyone else uses it.

Is there any information available on how often the car should regen or how much soot is normal?

Depends on your mileage as to how much soot or ash you have. When the DPD does a regen, roughly every 250 miles, it burns the soot into ash. This is what builds up, when it's full you have to flush or replace.

When I'm at work I do 30 miles each way. I was only asking because whilst it's good to see the figures I don't know whether they are good or concerning.

Get the full version of the app. I found it worthwhile.

So my car did do a regen tonight. I kept it running until it stopped and the results are in the picture. So after the regen it is still saying it's 24% full.

Does this indicate a problem or is it to be expected on a car with 150000 miles on the clock. Could this cause any performance issues as the car does feel sluggish when pulling away.

How do you.connect this app to read ?

Yeah, between 20 and 25% seems about right. I had more Ash on less mileage.

I purchased a carista obd2 reader from Amazon, and then downloaded the VAG DPF app. Cost £7.49. set the app up to connect with the carista and away it goes.

I'm guessing as the miles build it'll not be able to clear as much and it'll have to be cleaned or replaced.

It's the ash that will fill first before you need to replace / clean. Mine was at 80% Ash, but still regener some to 25% on soot.

The regenerations clear the soot.

The ash residue is what's leftover in the filter from the regenerating process and cannot be cleared by the car itself.

Once it's "full" you'll need to have it removed & cleaned or replaced...

The more full the DPF is, the more difficult it is to pass air through the exhaust so theoretically you should see a drop in performance although it's difficult to quantify how much butespecially at light load like pull away

My 2l diesel has 250k km and can feel sluggish at times but then others is just as perky as before..

Mine has 150000 miles and pulling away it just feels lacking in power.

I did a scan which showed a few codes that i reset.

The other thing I've noticed on the carista app is the throttle position. Even when it's fully pressed down the position sensor only shows 77.8%. I thought if I had it fully down it would be 100%
