Rear wiper will only stop if the control lever is pulled back (front windscreen wash)

Featured Replies

Hello. Fabia MK2 estate 2014. The rear wiper motor stopped working so I replaced it with one off Ebay. It works fine. However, when the car is started the wiper starts up straight away. The only way to stop it is to pull the control lever back so that the front wash comes on and then the rear wiper stops.

I did some searching and followed various guides about pulling out fuses 10, 26 and another one (can't remember which) to reset various things. That didn't work.

I'm starting to think that it's the actual switch that's the problem. If I pull the lever back and the wiper stops, if I then click it to the on position and then back to the off position then the wiper carries on running until the lever is again pulled right back to activate the front wash. That makes me suspicious that the switch is failing to return to the off position. I read a report about someone spraying contact cleaner into the switch and that fixed it. Wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem.

If your stalk is the same as on my wife's 2015 Mk3 then the following might apply and/or help (generally perhaps).
