Mirror dip

Featured Replies

Hey, it is probably easy to fix, but I noticed when car is in reverse, left mirror dip ( passenger side) but driver side not.

I checked all options, did that thing with ignition, set mirrors, reverse etc but didn't help.

Got someone from Cinch ( thise who sold me my car) they turned to say that with skodas, thats the way it is that passenger side dips, but driver side not. I find it hard to believe.

So how it really is, should both dip down when reversing or not?

Assuming it is a RH drive car, the passenger mirror dips to allow the driver to see the edge of the kerb, when parking. The rear view camera is designed to give an overall view behind the car.

only one mirror will dip, the passenger side.

not both.

no u can't change it so BOTH mirrors dip.

the seat controller module simply won't let u do that.

Wow, I thought both would, even if I would have to move knob left or right, cos you know sometimes you reverse to the left and sometimes to the right.

Very weird

Yeah, this one doesn't have rear view camera, so that means if I reverse to the right and want to see kerb, I have to dip the mirror manually?

I did think I read that you have the right mirror dip for reversing via the coding -

But not sure if it truly for right mirror or LHD cars -

9. Put right mirror down when reversing (mirrors with memory function)
10. Put right mirror down when reversing (mirrors without memory function)

Do you have any link to full instructions, cos i dont really get it how would I do it?

This is via Car Scanner Pro and a OBDII dongle, this is not possible via just settings in the multimedia screen and I am not even sure if this is possible

But also would like to do this as then it's handy when parking to a kerb on the drivers side, I might try this later today.

I think this is a mistranslation of Passenger rather than Right. i.e. Passenger mirror down (Right for LHD, Left for RHD)

I am not aware that its possible to have drivers mirror dip too. Im not sure i would want to as even with the reversing camera I still check mirrors and over my shoulder for pedestrians/objects in blind spot. When reversing into a bay or against kerb the passenger mirror is enough to line up properly.

This is what I was thinking that its meaning for LHD and not RHD as well

https://www.mycarly.com/scanner/ something like this?

Plus phone app i think

There is this workaround I found though. If you have memory seats you can do this:

This is the one @tombee and I have but I think it’s referring to passenger mirror. Not right mirror specifically.

Carscanner app and Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XGB4873?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

But as @JR RS said it’s not possible with VAG vehicles for both mirrors to dip.

Passenger mirror in my case is left hand one. I need driver ( right) side to work

Any idea why it wouldn't be possible with VAG vehs?

I did have kia before and once on reverse both mirrors dipped simultaneously.

I know with skoda I have to turn knob to the left to activate it, which is pretty annoying

Because it’s not programmed by the factory and there’s no option to program it. You would have to ask VAG engineers for a full explanation as to why!

Great, just need to find out how to do this

Will try it tomorrow, interesting it only says about passenger side, not driver, but gotta try it

And they will point the finger at the Accounting department and say "Ask there!".

And then you'll go there and find some dork that saved VW AG like 1 cent per car sold by not allowing this feature, and he was rewarded with BS titles like "Employee of the week" or similar ... 😁

Such is the world we live in.

BTW, my ex Range Rover P38 had dip in reverse BOTH mirrors ... feature available since 1994, oh well.

It would be interesting to see if other higher lineage flagships such as the Arteon or the Lord of the Rings variety have the options of both mirrors dipping.

If you have the Mirror Sync option ticked does it work?
