  • Glad to report had no problems with mine so far (5500 miles) but the tyres are a bit crap in the wet. Even the grey seats have survived the initial onslaught of oil and charcoal from the kids - get t

  • I also have had no complaints as yet. PDi had been done superbly, no rattles, squeaks or anyhting untoward.

It's a worry. The vRS seats are the only thing that I had to compromise on as I wouldn't usually have bought a car with light grey fabric interior like this. If it were grey leather, well, that'd be a different question.

I have thought that I'd wait until the warranty ran out then I'd remake the seats in leather. Not so difficult to do for me as my father makes saddles and horse-tack so he's got access to professional materials and expertise. I've done a similar thing with a Beetle that I had. I bought a pair of fronts from a written-off Golf GTi, unpicked all the seams, and used each panel as a pattern to make them again in grey British Leyland Allegro(!) pin-stripe two tone velour. It was, if I do say so myself, a great job! :)

I'd upload pictures to My Gallery, but for some reason recently my Windows XP Pro machine refuses to send stuff to the BRISKODA Gallery section.

:(

...anybody on here no what's causing this please feel free to reply in that thread! :)

I am F-U-R-I-O-U-S

I just looked over at my front passenger seat bolster and it's frigging started to wear, really badly. It's got loads of 5mm-10mm long filaments sticking out in an area about 5cm by 5cm, and it looks truely awful.

Needless to say, I am going straight to the dealer first thing tomorrow to get this sorted ASAP. They get one chance on this I am afraid, and if the other does it too, then that's it totally. It's just NOT good enough fabric.

My Fabia vRS is 33 days old and has covered 2200 miles.

Mines just a little older than yours and I've covered about 2800 miles and mine is fine.........but then I'm not really that bulky or heavy (not saying that you are) so I'm guessing I dont cause much wear and tear

Mine started at 1500 miles, I am no lard ar5e either so it's not down to excessive movement. I think maybe we should bring it to Skoda's attention as this appears to be a bigger problem than we all first thought.

It wouldn't hurt in saying something, though from my point of view coming from a dog of a Pug 206 to the wonderful Furby a little seat wear is nothing compaire to the hell I but up with in the pug.

Maybe a stock letter should be sent to skoda from the people that are suffering from this wear and see what they will do long term about it.

Here are two pictures of my fraying seats. The dealer is "looking into" the situation and will call Skoda ASAP to see if they have had any other reports.

This is not good enough after 2500 miles and 34 days! No matter how big the bolsters are or aren't.

I've owned and driven many cars with bolsters as big as this and none of those ever looked like this, things like 2 new BMW's, 2 new MINI Cooper S's, Golf GTi's [front seats in my Beetle], a Polo Coup

I do feel that a letter maybe in order. I am 10.5 stone and 5'8" tall. So my size is definately' date=' positively, absolutely, nothing that they can say. No matter, Trading Standards would have a field day with that one. It's "Below merchantable quality". Period.[/quote']

I hear your pain dude ;)

I am gonna phone up Skoda UK at some point today to see if anything can be done about the material. If the furby had a leather option I might of gone for this TBH.

I have done 12K in mine, weigh 20 stone and the wear is less than the ones pictured.

Strange.

has anyone else noticed the lack of 100mph on the Fabia VRS???? The gap between 90 and 110 is exactly the same as between 80 and 90??? So why bother missing out 100??

Bizarre

Bizarre

Why would you need 100mph marked as you can't do that speed in Britian ;) unless you own a private runway.

Bizarre

Sorry don't understand. I only look at the dials from 0-70mph. The car goes faster than 70mph  Isn't that breaking the law!

i wasn't saying it was a problem - just a fact i'd noticed!!

0-70 clearly the only important thing *winks*, just wondered whether it was deliberate or whether just the skoda design ppl can't count in mph

Anyone else had the squealing I'm having at the moment up to 30mph. In the dealers tomorrow to be looked at.

It is a bit strange the way it jumps from 90-110mph. When I first got the car I spent many of times sitting of on the private ;) test track doing 100mph when I thought I was doing 95mph.

I've started to get a squeaking sound coming from around the drives side A-piller. Any one else had this? It's starting to pee me off.

AS for the seats. Not noticed any fraying as of yet. Will have a look tonight.

Maybe it's cos as the car goes faster, the speedo becomes more and more inaccurate, so they're only quoting a speed of around 100 (ie. 90-110). Either that or the speedo doesn't measure linearly once it gets passed 90...

  • Author

I think, on the speedo 'issue', that it has simply been designed not to measure linearly after 90. I noticed this after about 5-days of ownership! How lazy am I?

For those that don't know, it speedo reads (correct me if I am wrong):

10-20-30-40-50-60-70-80-90-110-130-150 MPH

I'll have to double-check the scale against the KPH values tomorrow morning to make certain that they aren't overstating the MPH.

Either that or the speedo doesn't measure linearly once it gets passed 90...

That is correct.

The speedo in my furby is about 5-7 mph out at 110, I measured it against my TomTom GPS system.

WOW! You've bought the German AutoBahn edition then?

furby is back at the dealers again on Thursday as they didn't manage to sort out the squeal but I have a nice new drivers seat under warranty.

The squeal sounds like someone blowing a note on a beer bottle but dissapears when you touch the brake. Easy solution I think, I'll keep a slight pressure on the brake - then I remebered the fly by wire throttle.

Taken my car into Autosales, Bilston who'd kindly arranged a visit from a senior guy at Skoda UK regarding the fuzzy seats, pictured on previous replies.

He reviewed them and has submitted his photo's and analysis of my car to the Factory for them to see what might be happening here.

I'll update this thread when more information comes from Skoda Auto and /or UK.

As cross country agreement is all that's needed here. Find it hard to believe that there is such an **** and elbow feel around the whole of Skoda customer service.

Are you still having "fuzzy seat" problems now then?

Ivan, are you having "fuzzy seat" problems too?

flatfourburble, am I right in saying you've had "fuzzy seat" problems too?

In fact anyone who has/are having fuzzy seat problems too, can you update us all as to the current problem report status please? It would be invaluable for everyone to know - including Skoda.

Many thanks,
