Fabia vRS - any common problems?

Featured Replies

has you can probably gather my car does a lot of reversing being a driving instructor and the groaning on the brakes is starting to get on my nerves. has anyone found a fix for this yet?

Wayne and anotherbadname here's the answer (as far as i can help):

The groaning brakes AND the creaking suspension are a trait of mordern VAG cars. The brakes problem is noticed in most VAG group cars with disc brakes and the creaking suspension has also been noted by current shape SEAT Ibizas and VW polos at least. There is not a cure that i know of for either so this is as far as i can help.

I got a Silver Fabia vRS from Autosales in Bilston on Saturday. It drove outstandingly and was a real eye-opener. My wife and I have placed a provisional order and now it's just a matter of time till I properly join you all in the Fabtabulous Fabia vRS world! :D:D:D

The only problem that we experienced was the car we drove had a very poor clutch pedal action. It felt as though the pedal pivot had grit all over it and you could clearly hear a clicking both during depression and release of the pedal. No doubt it simply needed a little lubrication and/or adjustment to resolve, and certainly better than 3 steering failures in my bloody MINI's!!! ;)

So then. After 5 hours alone on an unaccompanied test-drive with the Fabia vRS (and my wife phannar ;)) am I smitten with the little Skoda?

Yup. It's very very good indeed. I can't wait.

I've noticed the same problem with the clutch pedal has developed on my VRs, I haven't got the time to take it back to the dealer yet but I'd be interested if anyone else has the problem or knows how to fix it.

Hi Wayne

Were you a member of the MINI2.com forum? Sounds like you suffered all the common problems, some of them still not fixed even on the newest cars! I came very close to getting a Cooper S, then settled on a Puma 1.7 VCT which is lots of smiles per

Hi!

I have water in passagenr bottom side (under the carpet).

Is it common problem?

try cleaning the the area under the wiper panel usally blocks the drain holes then it fills with water and enters the freash air intake

:( It seems that the water goes inside my passanger feet area because the waterbox is not sealed correctly... if I put water in the waterbox, it goes in all directions, covering with water even the electrical device located under the waterbox...so, not only the three "holes", but the whole line under the waterbox is like a curtain of water :( I will try to seal it somehow...

Hi rvacaru,

Thanks for the information that you have supplied. I started this thread to deal specifically with the Fabia vRS. I took a glance at your personal profile and I've noticed that you've got a different car listed.

Is the information that you have supplied for the Fabia vRS? I'll update the "Problem list" if it is :)

Many thanks,

No, it is not a vRS. It is a 1.4 16V 101 HP

Okay here is a new one for all you Furby vRS owners - ever had your front wipers stop working?

Got in the car this morning and front wipers worked fine, drive about two miles and go to clean the windscreen and the back wiper moves??

Basically I have no front wipers and no water sprays front or rear. The rear wipr works fine so if it rains I'll have to drive home to the dealers in reverse!!!!

That's an easy one to fix, I've been there already. There are two fuses for the wash\wipe system. On cold mornings if you over load the washer motor it blows the fuse for the washer motor and somehow (don't ask how) this stops the front wipers working, even though the wiper fuse is still intact. You need to search for the other fuse and replace it. I'm sorry I can't tell you which fuse it is, but it was dark and raining when mine went and the AA man wasn't too talkative. Hopefully one of the "techies" might point you in the right direction.

Hope this saves you a trip to the dealers

Ok - sorry to hear that you have problems. Rest assured that if any vRS owners report it I'll add your contribution to the list.

Cheers matey,

19. FRONT WIPER FUSE BLOWS.......... Thought to cccur when system is 'overloaded' using washers (2 reports)

This isn't specific to just the vRS but all the Fabias - make sure you have a decent antifreeze screenwash mix in the washer bottle. There's a thread about it in 'my maintenance'

Fluid is 50:50 in my bottle due to silly Scottish weather.

Mad thing is that everythong worked okay when I first left home then it all went silly a bit later - dealer says for some reason fuse doesn't blow straight away.

All sorted now and the little pr1ck on the rev and rip got a good soaking on the way home.

Hi Dave' date='

Yes indeed I was "that" MINI2.com solider. I am in total agreement with the "essential toys", "crazy price" and "badly built" statements. I am awaiting a cheque from BMW for atleast some of the vast amount of money that I have spent, then I can give them back this heap of crap.

I can't wait to get my hands on the vRS. I am in for a wait - I am no stranger to waiting - I had to wait 6-months for each crappy MINI after all!

Speak soon I hope! :)[/quote']

Hi Wayne

Definitely worth the wait - picked mine up on Friday, it oozes that quality feel that's hard to identify but definitely there. Being careful to run it in properly - 600 miles covered so far and even being careful is fun! Great handling, brakes and power even when you don't expect it! Can't wait to get past the running in and go for a blast (although maybe not as hard as in the demo car I borrowed)!

EXCELLENT NEWS!

Don't forget...

:wrthless:

...or atleast add them to your gallery matey. I REALLY want to see some more vRS pictures!

Fair enough. Is this a problem that besets the entire Fabia range?

If it is then I should perhaps leave it on the vRS list as well.

Now then' date=' I feel quite bad. [b']rvacaru reported a problem where his Fabia 1.4 16V 101 HP ends up with a wet carpet.

:)It seems that the water goes inside my passanger feet area because the waterbox is not sealed correctly... if I put water in the waterbox, it goes in all directions, covering with water even the electrical device located under the waterbox...so, not only the three "holes", but the whole line under the waterbox is like a curtain of water I will try to seal it somehow...

If this too is a problem that besets the entire Fabia range then I must add that too I suppose, as people have spent good time and effort updating this thread with problems that could potentially happen to the Fabia vRS too.

Your help will be gratefully received.

Is that it then? 19 problems and no more?

This is very promising... :):):):):)

 • 4 weeks later...

EGR (Exhaust Recirculation Valve) replaced at 7500 miles on my VRS Furby. Took dealer two attempts to find the problem on the diagnostic system but now ok again. The yellow engine shaped warning light used to come on from time to time which alerted me to this problem. A few internal cabin rattles and a creaky clutch pedal my only other moans. Other than that fantastic car

Some Octavias - including my MY 2002 4X4 (now fixed) - suffer from a known clutch master cylinder problem. But I would have thought that the Fabia Vrs would be fitted with a modified one, as are more recent Octavias.

Denis, any idea where I can find out the affected numbers?
