  • Glad to report had no problems with mine so far (5500 miles) but the tyres are a bit crap in the wet. Even the grey seats have survived the initial onslaught of oil and charcoal from the kids - get t

  • I also have had no complaints as yet. PDi had been done superbly, no rattles, squeaks or anyhting untoward.

Thanks for the new/updated items. I have added them accordingly.

My car has taken to groaning as other have done here. It's (al)most certainly brake binding related, and I am not too worried about it. When it goes back in soon to get the seats resolved I'll get that done to I feel.

I've also added an additional item, 33. During the hot weather the other day (yes we do get that here in the UK), my wife drove my car and readjusted the steering wheel a little. The steering wheel correctly moved, but unfortunately the glued-on fabric gaitor above it between it and the dashboard, came adrift, exposing the metal-work behind. Not the end of the world, just a little shabby. I'll get that done too.

Many thanks people. Keep them coming... or should that be DO NOT keep them coming? :) Challenge ya!

The goods train sounding brakes on mine are really getting on my mammeries now!

Resorted to using the hanbrake when reversing. This seems to be a solution, and saves the gross embarrasment. Not the final answer though. According to Andy Spinndrift, there is a cure on the way.

Think I mentioned a while ago that my next door neighbours astra had exactly the same problem. Will ask him what the final outcome was and report back.

The little black cover adjacent to the inside door handle (n/s) fell off the other day. Doesn't seem to want to go back on either. Suspect the retaining clip must have fallen into the door frame.

Fuzzy seats STILL not going fuzzy though @ 4900 miles :)

...I think that something like the control rod inside the NSF door (from the internal handle to the mechanism, in my older cars) is rattling in the door.

I'll add it to the list, 34.

Whoa there Dobbin!!

No Wayne,it's not the chrome handle that's come adrift, but the black plastic shroud directly in front of it..front pass. door.

I suspect it may have been one of my kids slamming the door too hard. Mini moose has a habit of doing that!

Off the subject, but on dents,I took my x peugeot partner van in for warranty work 18 months ago. Came back with a football size dent in one of the back doors

Went to Asda to do the shopping with miss cj.Got home finished unloading, mini moose SLAMMED the back door...and as if by magic..the dent popped out. FANTASTIC!!

yeah that happened to mine within the first week, not too bothered about it as I put it back into place myself (well as best as I can) guess I'll have a word when I take it in to the dealers for it's first service

4000 miles on mine and I've had no REAL problems I'm totally happy with it. Albeit from the damaged that it has had from motorway junk and the odd keying.

Still can't get over all the compliments my fabia receives. I go around all the local garages in my job,and it amazes me how sales staff come out to have a look at it,and heap it with praise. Almost embarrasing!!

Really feel as though you are driving something unique and special. Quite amazing really.

2+ months on,and I can honestly say that it's the best car I've ever had...SO FAR.

Few niggles, but nothing major. Hope the dream continues, and doesn't turn into a nightmare!

ok then in sort of proper english

few niggles at Mo:

Groaning foot Brakes when reversing and is getting worse

seems to be usuing a lot of oil (505.01) at the moment

(thats probly just my driving)

electric windows buttons swap sides sometimes left opens right and visa versa

loads of dead bugs all over the front also

ooops

ah yeah whats peoples best fuel effiecient speed or tactics

need to work out mine because money bad at times

anyway its still a great car and everyone loves it

Audi TT's are slow btw

Nice one Tigger! We can almost understand you now  Didn't realise accents could be transferred on to the keyboard :P

Groaning brakes...think most of us are suffering from that. Wonder if the octy's do it? Heard no mention in here.

Windows..seems quite common,but no probs here..YET.

Bugs..an inherent fault with ALL cars it would seem

Fuel efficiency...Try bare feet!

Great car..MOST of us would agree with that, and no I'm not enticing a row!

TT...Drove the 220bhp last year. Thought it was quite quick actually. Did you drive the 180 (i think) with just the 1 exhaust pipe p'raps?

I was talking about a problem with my car. Sorry for any confusion.

I'll now review what you have raised and update the list.

Thanks,

So. That's it. My car is now all fixed-up and perfect.

Thanks to Autosales Bilston and adadams there, it's now rattle free, fuzzy seat free, problem free!

:D

Thanks Adrian!

...so there I was going home from Cornwall with 125 miles ahead of me, on the M5 doing 70mph in the winter rain and "BANG!"... the NSR window winder gives out and the windows falls to the bottom! I wouldn't mind, I've never used the goddamn thing!

Oh, and my NSF seat cover is yet again wearing fuzzy / fluffy, at 14000 miles. So that lasted 10000 miles. Deep joy.

I've also asked on three occasions for the service indicators to be reset. They have now been reset, but it took 3 visits.

I am driving around in a poxy Suzuki Alto as courtesy car that struggles on the motorway and in side-winds / gusts from trucks: which is great when you think I do about 150 miles per day on average on the motorway. I ain't happy. I ain't happy at all.

Gave the car a good clean today and noticed wear of the shiny coating on the top part of the gear **** - this is after 8K - has anyone else experienced this?

Also after a good polish, the paint surface is still covered in what feel like raised "pin-pricks" - any ideas?

ok I've found a fault :thumbdwn: :( but not to worry as it's only the radio! It seems to cut out sometimes as if it's turned it's self on but then comes back again, it also sometimes doesn't want to turn on aswel..............but who cares!! Radios can be changed!

I've had the same radio problem. I once thought that it was due to my mobile phone being in the cubby hole under it, but it still occurs when it isn't there.

well, I'm up to 11,000 miles now, used as a driving school car, and the only problem was a hard to shut bonnet, which was duly fixed at the first (and painless, I would reccommend Bickertons in Sheffield) service..... everything else perfect...

I know alot of instructors who use mini's and they all complain that they break ALL the time! ;)

3000 miles gone and no major problems so far! Long may it continue!

Bloody hell this is a long thread!!

10k and the gear lever rattle (booked in under warranty - Skoda UK have sent all dealers a bullitin) and fuel cap catch - both seem to affect pretty-much everyone!

10,000 miles, just a gear linkage (or similiar) minor issue. Taken it to Ireland, Scotland no probs, plus has a full size spare wheel instead of a 55 MPH pace saver.

Hi

Have have just completed 5k in my Vrs. All I can say is what a superb car, fantastic performance, fantastic value for money, no faults and no complaints surely a classic in the making?

1. Gearstick - no problem after 12k though there is a small mark seemingly under the surface (???) adjacent to the "6". I feel this is one of the tackier parts of the interior and should be replaced with a nice aluminium one...

2. Paintwork - you might try a clay bar on it. The top lacquer coat is very soft which leads to numerous minor scratches being visible since it goes white. There appears to be two solutions to this - the quick one is to use rubbing compound to heat the lacquer up and get the "whiteness" to "flow away". However after our long hot summer I find mine seems to have partially sorted itself out after being parked all day in full sun. You're could have softened in the sun likewise and picked up dust or other small debris? Hypothetical but possible?

Apart from the quality of the paintwork my car has been totally trouble free after 12k/10 months...

I've covered 15k in my vRS and have owned it just over the year...

the only problems I've had so far... have been the passenger door handle trim coming off and the steering wheel gaiter coming unglued, in both instances, I simply put it back as it should be, and it's been fine ever since...

Even though this thread is a "long" one, I am very very happy with my Skoda Fabia vRS.

I've not heard of anyone having major issues like myself and my MINI ones with the vRS; it's simply light-years ahead in nearly all areas except for perhaps the "Cool" factor (which ironically I think the vRS has in spades just because it's such a "Eff You to convention!" car). After all, isn't the definition of "To be cool" the same as saying "To be unique"? If so, then a MINI has rapidly exceeded "Uncool" status years ago by virtue of how many you see on the roads, surely?!

None of the problems (forgive me if I am wrong) on the first page are as severe as they could be, and an awful lot have solutions. And that makes me happy.
