Fabia vRS - any common problems?

...and a creaky clutch pedal...

That sounds like the probkem that I experienced with the demo Fabia vRS that I borrowed. Anyway, adaadams who works at the dealership itself in service said he's since fixed it. It simply needed lubrication.

Hopefully yours is the same issue.

Thanks for the great detail though.

  • Glad to report had no problems with mine so far (5500 miles) but the tyres are a bit crap in the wet. Even the grey seats have survived the initial onslaught of oil and charcoal from the kids - get t

  • I also have had no complaints as yet. PDi had been done superbly, no rattles, squeaks or anyhting untoward.

Looking at my (dated) ETKA, Quinten, it looks like the clutch master cylinder changed from chassis numbers 1U-3-750 129*>>, ie around the end of 2002. Bearing in mind that MY 2003 cars were in production from Spring 2002, many will have the earlier master cylinder. Rather than a recall, I think that the master cylinders are only being changed when customers complain of the pedal staying down when fully depressed then released - as mine did when the weather was very cold. Mine also clicked quite often when near the top of its travel, regardless of temperature. It could be that a number of suppliers were used and that only some were faulty - since I don't recall that many members mentioning having the part changed.

Hi DGW,

Is this a Fabia vRS problem or an Octavia problem?

I'll add it too the list for you if it's a Fabia vRS problem you see.

Many thanks,

Wayne, as far as I know it is only a problem with the Octavia. I'm sure we would have had reports from Fabia owners by now if they had experienced similar problems with the clutch pedal sticking down. I think that the creaking/gritty feel problems are a separate issue.

OK. Understood.

(Note to self: If I see a 2002 Octavia 4X4 turbo Estate with 230bhp baring down on me in my rear-view mirror - I MUST MOVE OVER!) ;)

my fabia vrs 1400 miles has a squeeky clutch, is it worth taking to the dealer to get it sorted

Anymore for anymore people?

I a 53 plate furby vrs 1400 miles on it i have the creaky clutch pedal as well

I have noticed my front drivers seats is starting to show the early signs of wear at the sides(ie the inside part of the seat side, the part thats stops you moving about if you catch my drift) it is showing signs of fuzzing up and doesnt look very good, have a temp snap on cover on it at the moment and this as stopped it from getting any worse.

no other seats have this problem, i feel the seat material isnt as hard wearing as my other cars

I too have the creaky clutch pedal on my 53 fab vrs, I was going to leave it till the first service to sort out but its getting quite annoying.

Sorry mate I forgot to mention that I've added this point to the list (combined it to my test car problem). adaadams tells me that it was quite simple to resolve. Have you had yours fixed yet then?

Thanks and sorry,

It's unreasonable to expect that a quality good like a (any) car would suffer such a problem like that so soon. Take it to the the dealer and remember these two simple words: "Warranty return".

just seen your post Wayne, I've been on my hols for the last week.

Not got the clutch pedal sorted yet, though funnily enough it seems to have got a bit better having not used it for a week! - I'll let you know the progress as I also need to get hold of the right hand drive mats when I'm there.

thanks for adding to the list, though it looks like theres no major probs been reported so far

After owning my new Fabia vRS now for a week, all I can fault it on is:

- Wind noise/whistle from NSR door, occurs over 50mph,

- From the headlining, you can hear a small creak/cracking sound as you go over bumps/speed bumps.

I've added these to the list and will get them sorted as and when. 600 miles on the clock, only 400 more or so until I've run her in, she's great... :)

I got my squeaky clutch sorted out at the dealers, now its perfect no noise

hi Wayne

Ive had the NSF door noise since new, I've lived with it so far as two years of mini driving have desensitised me to rattles, squeaks and other assorted noises, but as its going in to have a paintwork fault( its second) sorted next week i'll get the garage to have a look at it.

Yeah it cruises too fast for me, I mean my Cooper felt fast at motorway speeds but this IS fast :mischief:

mines just over a week old and with 970ish miles on the clock have to say I've no real grumbles, there is the noise from the gearknob when in neutral (I think Chris has also said this) and the strange doinking/creaking noise when going over a speed bump, but after coming from a really s***e peugeot 206 this car is like a rolls!!

Thanks for that. Make sure to report back (here?) with what they find about the wind noise. I thought it maybe the rear spoiler, but it seems a little further forward than that..?

I need to ask, should I be adding the 2 paint faults I wonder?

Thanks matey. Valueable information that.

I've done about 1700 miles in mine now and the only things that are

1) Windnoise around drivers window (only when above 50-60mph)

2) Groaning when applying brakes during reversing

3) A minor interior rattle, somewhere around the stereo area (can't track it down so far)

ok I've found a fault :thumbdwn: :( but not to worry as it's only the radio! It seems to cut out sometimes as if it's turned it's self on but then comes back again, it also sometimes doesn't want to turn on aswel..............but who cares!! Radios can be changed!

Mine does the same. My MINI's did the same too. I think, but don't really know for a fact, that this may be the radio re-searching frequencies for TP (Traffic Programmes), if TP is invoked. Certainly my MINI, when I turned off TP, it never happened. I turned it on, it would happen every 20 minutes or so.

I'll test this theory tomorrow in mine and see it follows that pattern. Could you do the same?

Ta very muchly.

I hadn't thought of that, to be honest the radio is hardly ever on as I like the noise of the engine lol not that you can really hear it that much!

When I turn it on next I'll have a look

My alarm has started going off every other night - really starting to **** me off.
