Fabia vRS - any common problems?

Featured Replies

The noise from the rear that I have is the 'mooing' (VAG term) from the rear brakes in reverse.

I have ordered a repair kit and i'll see if it works (an Audi repair for the A3).

As for the suspension mine never got a chance to squeak ;)

  • Glad to report had no problems with mine so far (5500 miles) but the tyres are a bit crap in the wet. Even the grey seats have survived the initial onslaught of oil and charcoal from the kids - get t

  • I also have had no complaints as yet. PDi had been done superbly, no rattles, squeaks or anyhting untoward.

I've never had the problem with the rear suspension, although it is probably because it is always full of rubbish.

Must be a convertible then! Have to say, I've not seen one of those. :D

The only problem I've come across is that the peak on the standard equipement cap always seems to rub against the headrest when worn as per the owners' handbook

Nah, the stuff in as skip can be usefull, it's ony work gear, It's got a twin exhaust though even if they are joined by trim (wheelbarrow anyone?)

Hi all

My Furby vRS has done just over 1300 miles now and it is consuming some oil, the level has gone from the upper most mark on the dip stick to start of the highlighted region. What alerted me to monitor the oil was when starting the car after it has stood idle overnight a large plume of smoke is emitted from the exhaust, the smoke has a blue colour to it which suggests oil is being burnt.

I contacted my dealer but they had no suggestion why this should occur.

Has anyone else any experience of similar occurances or have any ideas on the subject. My only comparison is that my old Furby TDI consumed vertually no amount of oil.

Its normal for TDi engines to burn oil when they are new... mine needed topping up after 4k miles. but other people with Octy TDis say that they never use a drop after about 10k

not sure about the blue smoke tho, if its only after being stood, it sounds like a possible dodgy valve seal weeping oil into the cylinder overnight.

Eeek.

...are you sure that 10k would be true for the Fabia vRS though?

Anybody?

Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I got a black fabia vrs in November last year and I have to say its fantastic the low down power makes it great fun (even if it scares my girlfriend).

Anyway, no major probs so far but.....I too get the loud creaking noise from the rear when going over speed bumps. Thought it was suspension so took it to dealer but didn't fix it. I've since found out myself that the problem is with the rear bumper. The gap where the bumper and the bodywork meet below the boot is too narrow. What happens is that the bumper flexs and rubs against the bodywork causing the squeeky noise. (You can recreate the effect by pushing down on the rear bumper)

Anyone else got this problem or managed to get their squeeks fixed?

took the car back to the dealer on saturday, who were aware of the fault as two of there own cars do it, disconecting the rear shockers and bouncing the car up and down they told me that the fault was the front rear suspension bushes.

The service guy is going to contact Vag to see there is any fix for the problem.

I wonder how many other VAG cars have this problem?

I think i get the same sounds as Shorty mentions when you go over a speed bump.

idle at 3rd gear going at 15mph over the bumps, you do hear a scraping noise from the back as it goes on and off the bumps. Not a big issue i dont think. Put ur music on and u wont hear a thing.

You might wanna detour to your destination, gives you more excuse to have more fun and drive at excessive speeds (not that i condone this:P), rather than going over thru a street with bumps

Quite a few...

Fabia, Polo, Ibiza, and the Audi A2 and A3

does anyone know if this problem might cause long term problems? And if so will skoda come to the rescue rather than you coughing out the money. I ask this coz I remember hearing about the Pug 306 1.9 TD that had a rear suspension problem which meant after 30-40k (or 3 years) it had to be totally rebuilt at the cost of the owner (I think it was only a small batch of cars)

Fair enough...

Sorry to keep going on about this rear suspension noise but as its been dry here the the last day or so i've noticed that the noise has dissappeared. Only thing is that there seems to be an interior trim rattle coming from the passenger side of the boot. When i turn a corner / road junction and it surface is uneven it sounds like a piece of wire / cable slapping from side to side.

Try having a look behind the trim on the right hand side of the boot, where the courtesy light is. i had a issue with a rattle the same as yours, but it stopped after i removed and refitted the trim to change my indicator bulbs.

The problem with the scrapping sound has somehow cured itself. Either because i hand washed it or because a passenger sat at the back of the car. After these two events driving over speed bumps no longer a issue, so advised that you guys try out these solutions, me not taking the p*ss either

has you can probably gather my car does a lot of reversing being a driving instructor and the groaning on the brakes is starting to get on my nerves. has anyone found a fix for this yet?

Is nobody going to respond to anotherbadname?

Personally, having not yet ordered my vRS yet (on the cards this weekend mind), I can't answer your question either.

Keep us updated as to what the dealer tells you though.

Many thanks,

to be honest, I only ever had the problem once when reversing after a pressure wash. Even the squeak from the rear going over a speed hump seems to have gone (I hope that stays gone)
