Hi,

As you may our may not know, I am just about to reject my second MINI Cooper S due to constant mechanical breakdowns and recoveries.

:cussing:

MINI Cooper S #1, BK52MXM, less than 12 months old, 3 recoveries.

http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35292

MINI Cooper S #2, BN53ZDZ, less than 4 weeks old, 1 recovery

http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49527

Anyway, rant over, my MINI's have suffered from common MINI problems like power steering failures, "Yo-Yo'ing" during acceleration and a lack of their bespoke tyres.

I want to avoid not knowing this sort of thing with my next car, hopefully a Fabia vRS with Xenons and Cruise Control in Black Metallic.

So. This is where you fine people come in. Can anyone who has had a problem with their Fabia vRS, please please please post them here? Please?

Thanks :)

...tyres are a bit crap in the wet.

OK. That's not hard to solve/get around/cope with.

OK. That was a worry of mine, but again it's liveable.

Thanks spinndrift

My power steering light sometimes comes on, but all i have to do is turn off the engine and restart and it is sorted.

You will not be dissapointed in the furby, It is bigger, better specced and with a chipped motor more powerful and still much better with the fuel economy than traditional boy racer cars, even when booting it.

Excellent. I'll have your car then, with Xenons, Cruise control on then please! ;) Have you got the original grille to hand too? You can leave the headlamp covers - I need them! ;););)

Hmmm... I am not entirely happy with that as a long-term solution but if your the only one with that fault, then I'll not worry about it too much. Better than not having any steering at all like in my effing MINI!

I've got a feeling that i am not waiting long enough for the self diagnosis to complete and has only happened twice so i wouldn't worry. Even with the light on the power steering still works so i'm not bothered over it

This little engine kill and restart used to cure my turbo problem in the short term, but it's not a big problem. I've been getting good vRS vibes too from these guys and I'm dead happy with my little car which I like to think of is in a similar class to the vRS Fabia now. :D (awaits flaming)

Thanks devonutopia,

I'll not add that to the list that I've started at the top of this thread, as I am trying to record just those anomolies for the vRS. I am sure you'll understand? ;)

All the best and thanks nevertheless, :)

Excellent. Thank you for the reassurance.

Thats ok, For some bizarre reason I was looking at a cooper when they first come out, after hearing your troubles I am glad i got my first fabia, even if it was not very lucky for me (nothing to do with build quality, which was excllent)

Do tell!

My old Fabia had no probs what-so-ever. The vRS has a few little rattles in the interior (nothing to hard to sort though) and thats it! :D

In the 3 years of owning a Fabia of 1 description or the other, I have had nothing but pure driving pleasure, which considering the old one was far from standard, I can't complain 1 bit!

I have a few rattles in the front doors, down by the little lights, but its easy to sort.. IIRC a few other vRS owners have reported this too?

Been driving the wifes Octy vRS today and at the risk of opening up the old wounds, the Furby is so much more fun to drive and feels more alive.

how have you sorted the rattles

I havent sorted them yet (its bloody freezing outside) but i think its just the wire leading to the light. will check it out when its not raining. (or ill get the dealer to sort it)

That's all great! I am waiting for more nasties though... :vamperic:

Wife hates it - she drives and Octy vRS which feels heavy after driving the Furby.

I really can't praise the Furby enough - best car I've had and nearly as much fun as my bike.

That's what I had hoped and assumed to be fair. It's a smaller, lighter car with a VW Autobahn rocket under the bonnet after all. :drive:

Hopefully not a push-bike because that would be more like my MINI... having to push it off the road I mean! ;)

No - Yamaha R1

Used to race push bikes until a few ago though.
