Fabia vRS - any common problems?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Nice choice of car I say. I've done just over 3k with my silver vRS, I have to say I the cars got a lot better than when I first got it. I've had no major probs.

Even though it surprises a lot of passers by with the rattle of the tractor engine!

I think it's different, unique and most of all the build quality.

Good luck in your quest in getting one.

rich.

  • I also have had no complaints as yet. PDi had been done superbly, no rattles, squeaks or anyhting untoward.

The intake mods are easy and take 5 minutes to do yourself. All you need is screwdrivers (one phillips, one flat) for the airbox, some Torx keys and a hacksaw for the grill inlet flap.

The green panel filter was about

sorry. LV=Liverpool Victoria who seem mod friendly insurers. Direct line are ok, but will not allow me to do anything to the car as I am under 25. For premiums I found direct line very good they Quoted me

Their website is www.liverpoolvictoria.co.uk, but everyone recommends phoning them, their number is 0800 514 514

You would get it for less no problem, as i have been unlucky in the past with accidents

Cheers for that, just tried their web site and was qouted

Everyone seems to recommend phoning them as the quote will be different, so before committing to another company, phone LV and see if it changes.

I've tried a few now the AA is the cheapest so far but I know they won't allow any mods at all, I will try and call some over the weekend but thatnks for that jeff!!

still too much to be honest my VTS with a few mods was cheaper than that lol

It's not all about performance though - there's cost of repair to consider.

A Furby is made from steel, which will cost a hundred or so quid per panel.

Saxo's are made from tinfoil, so can be rebuilt for the price of a KitKat.

Rob.

:haha:

Leave the Saxo's alone!

Leave the Saxo's alone!

I intend to...wouldn't even touch 'em with someone else's! :p

And I notice you don't drive one anymore...

oh I'll agree with you on that one I meant more along the line that the VTS is in insurance group 12 (or is it 15) and the skoda is only 9. Also everyone know that saxo's are own by the young, of whom most right them off lol (joke)

And I notice you don't drive one anymore...

Changed jobs and only needed one car - had the ZX (1.9i' date=' five doors, paid for) and the saxo (1.6, 3dr, finance) - hardly a tough decision which one to sell.

Genuinely fun car, only a 1.6 but no weight, can't understand why people buy heavy cars with a 1.6 in ;)

Mine was still upright when I sold it, in perfect working order....

(I say perfect, but it was seeping a touch of oil around the gearbox \ crank)

(and the synchromesh on 2nd was starting to go)

(hmm, thinks, they could have been related :scratchch )

lol mine had the same problem too I think it's a standard spec on all saxo's!! lol also mine never had a crash shunt etc........but that was the past

THat was on earlier models, if you look at the current version, the left and right windows are adjusted independantly (L mirror bottom, R mirror top) with the mirror heater in the centre.

You are correct. That's the configuration for the car that I drove. Even thet dealer manager agreed that "That's busted that!"

Shame it's not a good looking car :tongue2:

Not wanting to upset anyone but I think the Octavia is a more desireable shape.

The Fabia just looks a little bit ugly.

I agree with you the_boy. I dislike the shape of the rear myself. But on balance, having owned a MINI and had more than a 'healthy' share of unwanted attention (keyed paintwork, stolen bits and bobs, parking dinks, hand prints all over the windows, etc), I can't wait to be a little more "stealthy"!

Hi everyone,

Because my thread seems to have been hi-jacked by insurance fans, here's a VERY useful site that I used to get my best MINI Cooper S quote:

http://www.insurancequotes.org.uk/

My advice is to you all is to:

1). go to this linked site,

2). click on "the database"

3). click on "insurers"

4). print the page of phone numbers and start ringing around.

Another useful resource that I've used in the past, is one that allows you to enter you personal details like name, address, insurance history, etc. JUST ONCE, then it goes away to a fair number of insurers to find the best quote for you. Here's the link:

http://www.confused.com

All the best. Now then... anyone got anymore Fabia vRS problems? ;)

PS: I forgot to say that one or two of you should request that a Fabia vRS be added to http://www.insurancequotes.org.uk, then you can all start adding your own quotes. OK?

...and if your cars under 6 months old and bought after 31 March 2003 you can formally reject it for a refund as the law changed in the consumers favour.

All the best,

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this site but have worked for Skoda for about a year now, I was lucky enough to have a Fabia VRS as a company car and loved it to bits. I no longer have a company car as the government is ripping me off so i've bought a 16v. About your power steering lights, if you've got a VRS you should be able to take it to your dealer and get it sorted under warranty, don't live with thats what the warranty is there for, any sqeaks, rattles have a word, we all try to help.

One problem i've heard a little about is black smoke marks on the rear bumper, has anyone had this problem?

The power steering light i know is just a damp/dirty connection as it had happened on my prevoius 1.4 16v.

A LITTLE!!! they go all the way up the back! and means constant cleaning But thats partly the design of the car (the wedge shape means that aerodynamicaly all the dirt from the road as the car is going along ends up being flung up the back of the car (it is a problem with all Fabias and most other modern hatchbacks)
