Spacesaver spare wheel

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anyone could recommend an aftermarket space saver spare wheel and tyre for a 2025 Mk4 Fabia Design edition. Thanks in advance.

Got mine from The Wheel Shop on Ebay.

Wheel plus full kit (jack, etc) for approx £100.

The below foam and jack kit can be ordered for the Fabia MK4 from any VAG parts department by quoting the relevant OEM part number, ie. 6VA093860A. The VAG parts department can confirm whether this is correct for your vehicle by reference to the car's VIN number. The Czech price on "skoda eshop cz" is 2079CZK which is about £74.

The below foam and jack kit uses a 185/65R15 5.5Jx15 ET40 5/100 57.1 spare wheel.

The 'genuine' Skoda Fabia Mk4 spare-wheel + tool-kit is currently advertised here at £225.15 (Sale price)

Sorry - I note that the advert I referred to in my last posting does NOT include the spare-wheel!!!

The Skoda part number for the spare-wheel (including tyre) is 6V0601011M and should be available for around £215.

(Delivery charges extra.)

The OP has a Fabia MK4, not a Fabia MK3.

6V0093860B and 6V0601011M are both Fabia MK3 part numbers.

Thanks, I thought I had subsequently posted the correct part numbers, but clearly not!

Anyway, these two UK adverts shown below show the relevant part numbers for Fabia Mk4 cars and (as you said above) they are 6VA601011F for the spare-wheel and 6VA093860A for the tool-set.

SKODA Toolkit for Spare wheel FABIA IV

The Spare wheel set is designed for drivers who prefer to use the spare wheel instead of the puncture set in the event of a puncture. Spare wheel set - includes all the necessary tools for changing a

(I THINK the spare-wheel for a Mk3 should be OK for a Mk4, but a Mk3 tool-set would definitely be unsuitable as the Mk4 requires a different design of jack.)

The Fabia MK3's spare wheel (185/60R15 6Jx15 ET38) has an outside diameter 3.0% smaller than the Fabia MK4's spare wheel (185/65R15 5.5Jx15 ET40).

Additionally, the Fabia MK3's spare wheel (185/60R15 6Jx15 ET38) has an inflated width that is about 6mm wider than the Fabia MK4's spare wheel (185/65R15 5.5Jx15 ET40). The offset is also 2mm different, ie. ET38 vs ET40.

That additional 6mm in inflated width, might result in the carpet being lifted...but you would have to check if you just happened to have an old Fabia MK3 spare wheel lying around. The 2mm reduction in offset might also add to the carpet lifting problem that can occur when the wrong spare wheel is used in the spare wheel well.

I went directly to the Wheel Shop in Manchester for my spare wheel and tools. Very helpful and delivered in a couple of days.

Will a full size spare eg this one : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/168359344547 completely fit in the under-boot recess? Also,I have not been able to find a full size spare complete with tool kit - any ideas apart from Wheel Shop who do not stock it, or Skoda who charge silly money.

The below kit can be ordered from "skoda parts com" for 108.14 Euros (about £90.62) which includes shipping to the UK. It includes everything, except for the actual spare wheel...which can be purchased separately. The official spare wheel for this kit has a specification of 185/65R15 5.5Jx15 ET40 5/100 57.1

Tool kit for Fabia MK4, kit includes: 1x polystyrene molding, 1x jack, 1x wheel nut wrench, 1x screw-in rosette, 1x reserve strap. 6VA093860A

Mytyres can supply a 185/65R15 5.5Jx15 ET40 5/100 57.1 spare wheel, ie. tyre is fitted and balanced to an Alcar 4055 5.5Jx15 ET40 5/100 57.1 steel rim for under £120 (depending on tyre choice) including shipping to the UK.

Thanks for this Calston. It's amazing that Skoda UK sell this for £225 and that is 'on offer'!! However, the tyres on my Fabia 2026 are 195/55 R16 and the part number for the kit is 6VA0 938 60B rather than 60A. Can't find that one on Skoda-Parts site though.

The spare-wheel tool-kit for a Fabia Mk4 (Part Number: 6VA093860A) is advertised here for £89 (plus delivery charges)

https://shop.wingsskoda.co.uk/products/skoda-spare-wheel-fabia-iv

As I think I've highlighted before, a critical difference between the Mk4 and earlier Fabia generations is that the Mk4 requires a jack that can be attached further under the car.

This link shows the Fabia Mk3 tool-kit (6V0093860B) that includes a sort of compact 'cantilever' jack

https://shop.wingsskoda.co.uk/products/skoda-spare-wheel-tool-kit-fabia-iii

whereas the MK4 kit includes a more conventional 'scissors' type of jack, plus an essential extension handle to allow the jack to be wound up once it has been attached to the strengthened metal seam beneath the car.

My 2023-built Mk4 SE L model has the 'official' spare-wheel + tool-kit where the wheel is 15"-diameter with a 185/65 R15 tyre.

I'm (reasonably) confident that the standard 16"-diameter alloy wheels with 195/55 R16 tyre (that my car has) would fit into my car's spare-wheel well. However, without taking off one of my car's wheels and checking (and I ain't going to do that!) I can't be certain.

There should be no problem putting the tool-kit into the 16"-diameter wheel, though it's possible that the extra width of that wheel's rim and of its 195 tyre might mean that, when the tool-kit was in place, the floor of the luggage-compartment might not hinge down fully flat.

(It would be worth you checking with The Wheel Shop what the make and exact specification is of the 195/55 R16 tyre fitted to their spare-wheel package. If the tyre has a load-index or speed-rating inferior to the tyres factory-fitted by Skoda, it should really be considered a 'temporary' spare-wheel and thus subject to speed limitations.)

Thanks Derek, but apparently the spare wheel tool kit for my car is 6VA093860B rather than 6VA093860A. I have no idea what the difference is but will try asking SKoda customer service, but I know that I might as well ask a brick wall!

A GOOGLE-search on "6VA093860B" retrieves no entries, while a search on 6VA093860B just retrieves this one (that does not include that specific Part number).

https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/en_CZ/set-for-spare-wheel/p/6VA093860

Conversely, a search on "6VA093860A" retrieves masses of entries, including the advert shown below that shows the polystyrene 'box' and tools that include the necessary jack and extension handle.

https://shop.ahw-shop.de/original-skoda-fabia-4-pj-werkzeug-reserverad-notrad-fuellstueck-wagenheber-6va093860a

(I don't know why you have concluded that 6VA093860B is the right Part Number for your Fabia Mk4, but everything points to 6VA093860A being the correct number.)

The link you quoted advertises a Skoda Fabia 2015-2026 spare-wheel/tool-kit, suggesting suitability for a Fabia Mk3 (2014-2020) AND a Fabia Mk4 (2021-2026). The accompanying photo refers to a Skoda Fabia (NJ). NJ is the Type reference for a Fabia Mk3 (the Fabia Mk4 has a Type reference of PJ.) and the jack shown in the photo is clearly the compact 'cantilever' design used with the MK3 and unusable with Mk4 cars. The 'scissors' jack in the Fabia Mk4 tool-kit could probably be used with a Fabia Mk3, but not vice versa.

I had a look at the 'official' spare-wheel/tool-kit in my 2023-built Fabia Mk4 to see if I could spot a tool-kit Part Number, but, although there had obviously been a paper label stuck on the top surface of the polystyrene 'box', this was no longer there. Anyway, I'm sure that the correct Part Number for a Mk4 tool-kit is 6VA093860A

My car has the standard 15"-diameter steel wheel fitted with a 185/65 R15 tyre and there is a reasonable amount of space between the tyre's tread and the sides of the spare-wheel well. However, when inserting my spare-wheel into the wheel-well, it needs to be slid beneath a plastic trim-piece at the rear of the luggage compartment (ie, on the rear bumper side) and I'm not sure if a wider 195/55 tyre would allow this to happen.

The other caveat relates to the polystyrene 'box', A Fabia Mk4's luggage-compartment floor is just made of thin hardboard and weight placed on it is supported by raised areas on the top of the polystyrene box (some of those areas are green-marked on the image below).

Insertbox.png

If a wider wheel/tyre were used, it's likely that the polystyrene box would sit higher up and the floor would not close properly. But I don't see this as a major problem, as modifying the box (ie. reducing the height of the raised areas) should not be difficult.

I think you meant 6V0093860B rather than 6VA093860B, as there's no such part as 6VA093860B.

6V0093860B is a Fabia MK3 part number not a Fabia MK4 part number, as shown in the link below.
