Dog hair & Cowboys - new boot trims

Featured Replies

So when I collected my car

Smelt of dog constantly

Detailer says they have painted over the dog hair with black spray paint

While he will do his best to get a lot of it off

Is there part numbers for new side pieces, maybe bottom carpets and back of the seats?

This is what I’m faced with

So might just replace

Part numbers and pieces be perfect for all rear pieces

Christ on bike! I've heard it all now!

That's the height of cowboyism...

I would be naming and shaming the sellers.

Apparently common in the trade

Even my detailer said that

Just some people are worse than others

The last pic you can get pretty straightforward pet hair removal tools to get rid of. They’re basically very soft rubber that as you rub back and forth they collect the hair. It’s not easy as the stuff weaves itself into the carpet loops but it gets there eventually.

Believe it or not

When I got the car

The backs of the seats where fine

The reason the hair is showing

Is because he’s used the tool

And it’s bringing up the hair and paint

It’s chewed through 3 of his tools

It’s that thick with paint and dog hair 🙃

At this point I’d be taking it back and getting a refund. That’s ridiculous.

Side trims available on eBay pretty reasonably:

https://ebay.io/m/WvrIPJ

https://ebay.io/m/txRi2N

And they are pretty straight forward to swap.

Floor carpet even easier as it just lifts out.

Seat backs I suspect you would need to change the whole back of the seat as it is glued on I think.

Had reasonable success on my old octavia. Covered in dog hair and impregnated with sand I used an air compressor with small nozzle to blast it out onto a damp microfibre cloth. Got most but not all. It depends on the type of dog as well. Worse was my Dads Jack russel. They seemed to be almost barbed.

This is the bit that’s covered in it 🥲

The ridge along the bottom of the seats? But not on the seat backs themselves? This is part of the main carpet of the car. You could potentially source a second hand one:

And then cut it where it fits under the rear bench and “join” it/glue it down so the joint isn’t visible but gives you clean carpet in the boot. OR get a boot liner. Mine covers this bit.

The attachment that looks like a toilet brush on a drill works wonders for dog hair

Getting dog hair out

Is only half the battle

As it’s because it’s had so many layers of black paint on to hide it all

Means even getting to the dog hair is proving the worst

Painting over it is wild. I’d take it back to the dealer and hand it back personally.

I’ve owned 25 cars

Never ever ever seen it

But my detailer who I trust loads

Says it’s mega mega common

But some people are more cowboys than others

He doesn’t use paint

But uses black dye

But only on car mats which he showed me his process yesterday

But he said it’s the worst he’s ever seen

Trust it to be on mine

Put a bit of a damper on my new car feeling

Might be worth a shout that

Decent prices as well!

Doesn’t matter it’s facelift though I’m assuming for boot panels?

No I don’t think so. Just check the colour code is correct. Might be best to pop one of yours off and have a look at the sticker to get exact match.
