I saw one of these the other day

Featured Replies

I saw a light blue one of these near Bury the other day.

....And what a good car the Ute is! Surprised by that statement? We were very taken aback - compared with the other two-door Holden (the Monaro), this car drives far better. Rather than having the limited suspension travel, slow steering rack and lack of handling cohesion of the beautiful coupe, the VY Ute reminds us of nothing less than the HSV Clubsport.

I'd really like to have one!

Looks really smart! What engines are they available with? :D

4.0 V6 up to a 5.7 LS1 V8? I think....

The same ones as in the Monaro, apparently! The flat-bed is big enough for motorbikes etc.

As it's based on a car platform, it would make more sense than an off-roader, although wouldn't be eligible for the UK company car tax loophole if the payload isn't high enough.

They do a full-length crew-cab version in Oz too.

There's a V8 tuning shop in the midlands whose owner has one - it's significantly quicker than a remapped Monaro - as testified by a workmate who had it as a courtesy car whilst his Monaro was in for work.

Unladen, the ute, having a (strengthened) flat-bed in place of the rear bodywork and interior, is presumably quite light too.

As I said, I wouldn't mind having one -if someone could pay for the fuel...

This garage specialises in these and monaros-

The owner has a holden pickup like this one above -

They deal mainly with Holdons- monaros - racing porsches and Lotus Carltons.

You can buy a monaro for the 30 grand it costs and they will tune ( i think for about 8 grand) (dont quote me) to go way beyond the performance of Aston Martins - This might sound crackers but apparently the proof is the cars they have something silly like 500 brake.... Heres the site

Ace - there was one of these on the VXR stand outside at the London motorshow the other week. Looked superb.

Do these classify as a 'commercial vehicle' in the UK? Anyone know? :rubchin: :D

Steve

I see them every day here, often with a dog in the back! :)

There's a 6.2 V8 now  I wonder how the dog hangs on!
